Back Buddy Knee Pillow - Better Alignment of Your Knees, Hips, Lower Back

I have a spinal cord injury ( paraplegia) and experience a lot of central nerve pain in my lower back and legs. I have tried many pillows over the years. Most are too soft and compress to where the knees are touching and offer no relief. This one seems to be the exception > It offers great relief. I usually buy about 4 at a time and get 6-8 months use out of them before they compress a bit. If they alleviate the pain I am glad to pay the price because they work.

I received this pillow quickly enough and was very pleased to find it so firm. My old one is so deflated and does nothing to support. The memory foam just squishes to nothing so this was nice to see. It is comfortable and does the job so that hips and so forth stay in alignment. That really helps with my bad back.But what is up with the "pillow cover"? It is cheesy and not formed to the shape of the pillow the way other companies have theirs. It was not even on the pillow and fell out of the package as I was removing the pillow from the packing. It is typical pillow cover shape (just a rectangle) and is only chain stitched together and that is how the "hemmed" edge is finished also. It is a slippery material that just seems to guarantee that it will not stay between your legs but slip everywhere. I did not even bother to try it. It is also a cold feeling material which did not boost my confidence as to any form of comfort. Other companies have a terry type of cover that is comfortable and lets the pillow cling to stay in place.Fortunately I have the cover from an old one that I can use but I was very surprised and rather disappointed, but just with the cover.Other reviews felt that this pillow would last and from the first looks, and first use, of it I would agree.

This pillow was a Godsend for me and essentially made me able to sleep again at night.Since I hit my mid 30s I have experienced rapid weight gain, due mostly to factors beyond my control. With my belly having gotten bigger it has made my midsection curve inward, throwing off the alignment of my back when I sleep, making it hard to get in a comfortable position at night.The Back Buddy has helped tremendously in this area because it adds space between the legs and reduces shock on the lower back from said misalignment.That said, the only strike I have against it is it tends to get too soft after a few months' use, but at this price it is easily replaceable and therefore comes recommended to anyone suffering from the same back problem I have. Note that the company offering it, Superior Products, has always delivered mine with a reassuring Bible passage in the package. That's nice to know and another plus in purchasing this item.

I chose this product because other people like it, it was cheap, and it is not made of memory foam. I've tried a memory foam pillow for my head and the stuff is hot and clammy. Functionally, this pillow stays put, is comfortable and unobtrusive, and mostly does the job. It did not get 5 stars because it compresses too easily and allows my knees to touch on occasion. Denser foam would be an improvement. Yes, the pillowcase is a dud and the seam parted the first time I tried to put the pillow in. So then I used a regular pillowcase and discovered this type of foam slides into a linen pillowcase for nobody. Had to turn the pillowcase inside out and then reverse it back over the pillow. Such problems are overcome. The pillow is still a good product. Almost perfect.

This pillow is pretty much exactly what I expected and wanted when I ordered it. The pillow case, as others have mentioned, is something of a joke, but I own a sewing machine, and was able to make a perfectly functional case out of some spare fabric. The pillow is, for me, precisely the right firmness - it is soft enough to be comfortable, but not so soft that it compressed to nothing as I sleep. The design & materials also do not become too warm, and I've noticed that (probably due to the shape) it stays in place throughout the night much better than anything else I've used. I can't say how long it will last, but I've been using it for over two months now without complaint, and I have no reason to believe it will cease to function any time soon.

What sets this pillow apart from most others is the fact that it is perfectly formed to fit between your legs, near or on the knees, and stay put. Also, unlike most, it is made of a sturdy foam that does not compress - it supports your top leg and keeps it from resting on your bottom leg. This has helped me sleep better and awake without back pain. The cheaper pillows, especially the ones made of memory foam, will compress all the way down and allow your knees to touch. Once this happens, you might as well not have a pillow because it is doing no good.

I only used this a few nights because it was uncomfortable. I was hoping that I would get used to it, but I kept waking up and removing it. I purchased this item because my physical therapist recommended that I sleep with a pillow between my knees. I first tried a regular sized bed pillow. That was unsuccessful because it was too large and awkward and took up too much room in the bed. I am now using a 12 x 15 inch throw pillow, and I am having more success than with my prior attempts.

I recently had a total replacement of my right knee. A friend who'd had the same operation a few years ago had suggested I buy a knee pillow to aid in sleeping once I got out of the hospital so I purchased this one. Wow! What a difference something this mundane can make!! It's been almost 6 weeks since I had the surgery and I still use this item every time I sleep...I'm not sure I would get any sleep without it, it really eases the discomfort.
