We owned this product for exactly one year before it went out, and stopped working. Buy elsewhere so that you don't have to go through the hassle of reinstalling another in 1 year. There is no Implied Warranty on this product, only that you can return it within 30 days. We are well outside that window. After all, the original / OEM part that came in the refrigerator lasted 11 years.

My second refrigerator sits on my sun porch, so in the warmer months, it has to work pretty hard. I was having to remove all my frozen foods to defrost the freezer every month or so. Installing this heater was no harder than doing one defrost. My refrigerator is, once again, autonomous.

When the freezer section of my GE refrigerator began to Frostop, I removed the cover in the back of the freezer and saw that all the coils were covered with ice. Then I let it thaw out and unscrewed the two screws that held The heater strip in and unplug the terminals. The new heater strip goes in the same way. I put it back together in the refrigerator began working normally. This operation will save you $150 service call.

My husband put it on easily. It works immediately. However, the aluminum was a little bended when shipped in. We replaced it with another brand that only lasted two years. Hope this one will last longer.

This product works fantastic, installed it about a week ago and my refrigerator has never worked better. Great value for your money as well! Definitely recommend this to anyone with a defrost problem in their refrigerator!
