Excellent preamp
This preamp sounds phenomenal. Couple others have said you need to let it burn in. I highly recommend this as well, at first seemed a little on the high in the mids after about 10 hours of play time it balanced out beautifully. I bought the matching EQ and rarely have to use it. The impedance knob is a great feature for different cartridges that may run at a lower volume or records mixed with a low volume floor, brings them to optimal volume with ease. Built solid and easy on the wallet. Again give it time to burn in, know it sounds weird but you won’t regret it, all of sudden it’ll just sing. Used this with an LP120x into Presonus 5.25 and 8in monitors.

good sound sturdy
Our daughter, 15, kept noticing my old turntable up in the attic, and asking if we could get it going. It's not that easy in a digital age. I'd have to get a receiver, and a set of speakers, and all that. So Instead I took as set of small powered monitors we had in the house and rigged this preamp up to the turntable. Works very well, very solid and smooth sound. The Preamp gain is not really a volume control, but by balancing the volumes on the powered monitors I was able to get it to function really well. The Belarri sounds very good, very balanced and flat. small footprint too, which is great

Clear sound
My records sound great now. The music has a warmth and depth that was lacking when my turntable was connected directly to my DAC. I've been using the Bellari for a few weeks now and the sound is so good.

Wonderful product and very reasonably priced.
This thing is great. My records sound amazing again. The music has a warmth and depth that was lacking when my turntable was connected directly to the phono input on my receiver. I've been using the Bellari for a few weeks now and the sound is so good that I find myself playing album after album because the improvement in sound quality brings out things in the music that were somewhat lost or muddled before. This phono preamp makes my Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge sing beautifully. Highly recommended.

Unusable, apparently.
The Bellari VP549 preamp was recommended to me, after I had tried a cheaper brand. Unfortunately, when I plugged it in, the power-light would pulse, with a corresponding pulsing buzz through the receiver + speakers even when it wasn't connected to the turntable. Obviously, trying to play the turntable using the preamp with those conditions was impossible -- the sound being muffled, distorted, and horrible. I assumed the unit (or the adapter) was simply defective, so I returned it and received a replacement (from a different vendor). I get the same problem. As far as I can tell, it is unusable, and I will have to try yet another brand. This is quite frustrating, as I am simply trying to connect my older turntable with my newer receiver.

very pleased
I have owned/used the Pro-ject, an inexpensive Behringer and the Art DJ II. This and the Pro-Ject are in the same price class, but this phono preamp to me sounds the best. Crisp, quiet, CLEAR sound, with adjustable cartridge loading and a gain control, plus a usable rumble filter that is set for 20hz. The case is very nice quality and although I like the price of the Art DJ Pre II, this clearly is worth the extra cash.

Found a cost effect way to improve sound.
First off I couldn't justify spending as much or more for a phono preamp as I had on my 1960's Harman Kardon A300 integrated tube amp. I set a price for a phono stage at under 200.00 and actually found this Bellari VP549 on an Amazon open box for only 109.00.The VP549 is noticeably better than my internal phono stage. it's crystal clear, it doesn't change the sound of my amp, but it just makes everything sound better, horn and piano especially.Instruments that were hard to make out in the mix are now distinct and positioned on the sound stage. Music actually comes to life with this little unit and I've had no problem with grounding hum, I can just faintly hear that it's on until the record starts to play.My biggest concern was that vinyl would sound like my CD player. it doesn't, it's smooth, silky, musical and enjoyable. I'm very pleased.

Price and quality.
I replace my preamp and the new preamp did not have the amps or the quality to produce good sound. Found this phono preamp in Amazon. I was surprise by the price for an item that is made in the USA. The power and the quality this little Redbox produce is incredible. Now I can listen to my vinyl again.

Budget? Try deal of the century!
For the price? Unbelievable. Build quality is superb. Sound quality is phenomenal. If you like pure unaltered sound reproduction, this is for you. If you like "warm analog sound" it isn't. If you're using all modern equipment and want pure sound that puts your CDs in their digital grave, this is the phono preamp you want to buy. Unbelievable difference over the (cheap but mighty) TCC tc-750 I was previously employing in my setup. Downside: if you have an unresolved ground loop, this phono pre won't solve it. Upside: if you have an unresolved low frequency feedback this phono pre WILL solve it, even if your deck is subject to vibration from speaker output. Brilliant rumble filter circuit, and brilliant idea to include a switch to prove it doesn't interfere with sound quality!

Defective
I had to return this unit because the amount of "hum" or "noise" coming out of it, with or without a turntable plugged in, was so intense that it rendered the unit unusable (no, it wasn't ground-related), therefore I considered the unit to be defective. I want to be clear about the hum, because I had disregarded a few reviews mentioning a hum: in my case it wasn't a subtle matter, it was mammoth, impossible to miss or tolerate. Furthermore, I was disturbed by the gain control which was "crunchy" i.e. making popping/crunching sounds in the audio output when being turned, like you would expect of potentiometers after some years of use, when they need a bit of pressurized cleaner sprayed in through a tiny straw to clean up the wear dust/debris accumulated over time. This is not what I would expect of new equipment with brand new components.
