Finally video including Ronnie Lane!!!
Not to diminish Rod Stewart as being a egotistical performer trying to steal the limelight but lets face the facts of The Faces!!! The Faces put out 4 album's during the same time frame Rod Stewart put out his first 4 or 5 albums which all included help from every member of The Faces! Had he just included these early albums as " The Faces" albums they would have been much stronger efforts including Ronnie Lanes & other original " Small Faces" musical input. Think of it like this Paul McCartney's " Yesterday & " Hey Jude" & John Lennon's " All You Need Is Love" & " Come Together" George Harrisons " Something" & " While My Guitar Gently Weeps" & Ringo Starr's " Don't Pass Me By" & Octopuses Garden" are all welcome on The Beatles Greatest Hits. How awesome would it be if Rod Stewart's Gasoline Alley, Mandolin Wind, Reason to Believe, Every Picture Tells A Story, Maggie May, You Wear It Well & the many others all of " The Faces" members were involved with were available on " The Faces: Greatest Hits" or were part of " The Faces catalogue? Keep in mind Rod tested many of the songs he put on his solo albums out on the audience while playing live with " The Faces" & again look at who is listed as being on Rod's first 4 to 5 solo efforts released while under the safety net of being in "The Faces". Instead of 4 " The Faces" album's there could have been 9, more likely 10 or more & like I said with Ronnie Lanes time tested hit song writing ability these could have been much stronger album's making " The Faces" a house hold name even today! I love this product & the pop up info because it has put to rest many arguments I've had with friends that Rod Stewart's first few album's should have just been " The Faces" album's. And we get to see the underrated super talented Ronnie Lane performing Rod's early works on stage! After Ronnie Lane watched his writing partner Steve Marriott leave to join Peter Frampton's " Humble Pie" at the height of " The Small Faces" career I'm surprised Ronnie stayed with " The Faces" as long as he did! Especially when you cross reference album release dates! Rod Stewart's first true solo hit with zero support from "The Faces" was his 7th solo album & its hit song " Tonight's the Night( Come Inside)." Now Rod proved he had what it took to stay with the times & produce successful singles but as far as Album's after " A Night on The Town" he didn't have a album chart until 2013 or 14 with " Time". This is old historical material & we are all fortunate it exists at all...so I'm not complaining about the quality. It still has the power to make you shake your money maker! L.O.L!!! This is awesome history it even show's Rod hit himself in the mouth spinning his Mic Stand & run off stage to make sure he's alright during " Judy's Farm" & professional enough to race back in the nick of time to keep singing!!! No I don't dislike Rod I just see how things could have gone better for the band & Rod. No need to change time... just titles.

Rod & The Faces in their early '70's prime
If you're a fan of Rod Stewart and/or The Faces, you will enjoy this DVD. You get to see rare video of Rod & The Faces in their '70's prime. In my opinion Rod's best work was done between 1969 and 1976, and there's lots to enjoy here. PLEASE NOTE, however, that this DVD is in the PAL format, and it won't play in USA DVD players (It won't play in my computer, either.) You will need an ALL-REGIONS DVD player to play this DVD!

WISH IT HAD BEEN A LITTLE LONGER...
This DVD took me back to the days when I sat at a Rod Stewart/Faces concert and was mesmerized by hisenergy and that unmistakable voice that sent chills down your spine. I only wish that this DVD wasa few songs longer and that they didn't have the cheesy 'pop-up' facts on the page at the same timethe music was on... also, it came across more like a 'song' DVD than a concert as it was so choppy attimes. But overall, I guess it is better than NO Rod Stewart/Faces DVD and I'm glad I at least havethis to play from time to time when I want to revisit my misspent youth.... there may never be anotherperformer quite like Rod Stewart and I'm just glad to have been able to see him live so many times andnow to have this DVD. Overall... if you're a big RS fan, then this is a must-have for your collection.

The Way It Was
Pretty solid selection of period footage of Rod and the Faces in a variety of settings, from clubs to studio. Sound is fair to good. The DVD gives you a pretty good sense of how the boys performed in their heyday, 1969-72. You may be annoyed by brief subtext running along the bottom of the screen at the beginning of each segment providing background information. This package was put together in Germany, so I suppose it goes with the territory.

Hodgepodge of The Worst of Rod Stewart & Faces
* Many tracks consist only of cut-off pieces of the whole songs.* The audio and video quality are abysmal.* In several cases, the audio is taken from the studio record, combined with grainy live shots.- Sometimes, when the gap between audio and video becomes too obvious, the audio breaks from studio into live performance (e.g., on "Stay With Me").* Info lines, graphical elements are laid over the live pictures. Instead of adding value, they reduce whatever value may be there. "You Wear It Well" is presented with Rod's own post-Faces band, accompanied by pictures and photos of newspaper clippings on the Faces.* On "True Blue", Ron Wood prematurely enters the final fast part of the song, while the rest of the band have to play catch-up. Hardly the best of Faces.* At least several of the tracks are available elsewhere - on DVD or YouTube - in equal or better quality.

Big Dislike
schlechter Sound, schlechte Bildqualität. Sehr enttäuschend: die Songs werden zum Teil nur stark gekürzt wiedergegeben und mitten drin aus geblendet.
