Compact saw that can be carried on a belt or fixed to a kayak's rigging. Have used this saw a couple of times to cut firewood, including 3-4 in. thick ironwood and it will work through it reasonably quickly, especially if you can brace the wood in a way that you can cut with 2 hands and put some downward force into the forward stroke. Have also used it to cut invasive shrub base stems along cyclone face, and again, it does the job. Is it as fast as a bow saw? No. But, works fine where a bow saw can't. It does leave a gap between saw teeth along much of the blade and the handle it folds into, but as a result, is not bulky. Meets my need for a saw to carry on a kayak to help clear rivers and cut firewood for kayak camping, as well as reach what my other tools can't around the house. Would give it five stars if it were perfect.

UPDATED - BELOW---This is a well designed saw with some manufacturing short comings.The one I received should not have passed quality control. Fortunately for the manufacturer and myself I am an engineer and have no issues fixing the problems.When the blade was manufactured they used a hydraulic punch to put a hole in it for the lug that attaches the blade to the handle. My blade had an undersized hole which caused the lug to bind up with the blade and not pass all the way through the handle. This caused the bolt and lug to spin with the blade loosening it on every turn. I am glad I caught it or probably would have lost the bolt in the middle of the woods and been stuck without a working saw. I took a dremel and polished the hole through the blade to properly fit around the lug. This allowed the bolt to properly clamp the handle around the saw blade and the lug and bolt no longer spin when I open the saw. This is very common with punches as they are used that they wear down and punch an under size hole. It should have been caught at the factory.So the design, I love the curve of the blade and handle makes it easy to hold and use. The extra long 10" blade makes all my other folding saws feel very inferior. This saw has metal sides which makes it much heavier then say a gerber or similar holding saw. The weight comes in just under 1LB not bad for this much sawing power. The blade comes super sharp with a proper curf for self cleaning on gummy woods. After fixing the blade this saw really performs. If it wasn't for the poor assembly and QC it would have 5 starsUPDATE - Wow, I cannot believe the company service, after my review above I had no intentions of returning the saw since I fixed the problem. However they actually read my review and sent me another saw. This one came in perfect condition. This is a company to watch! I am completely blown away by their service and the fact that within a day of me posting the review they shipped another saw and I had no clue they did it until I came back here and saw the comments on my review. You've won over a new customer and I am going to head to your website to see what other products you guys sell! As an avid outdoorsman who has used hundreds of products I have never received this type of service. What a refreshing experience!

I used this saw the day I received it. I had some tree branches I need to cut into smaller pieces and the saw worked well. My 11 yr old son was able to use it as well. The reason for 4 stars is 2 features I the saw could be improved upon, however with these things said I would buy it again. 1) The handle shape is a little too flat, I have used others that have a bit more curve and they are a little easier to saw with. 2) the black dots on the handle are plastic, I thought they would be a softer rubber which would make holding the saw a little easier. I most bought this for camping not for yard clean up. I know this will work like it is suppose to in the backcountry.

My old camp saw is no match for this aggressive saw blade design. This thing cuts through anything in no time! The handle is very comfortable, and the blade is large, capable of during serious work!I like the folding saws rather then bow saws. They are easily accessed without having to put something together and take it apart every time you want to use it. And they still fairly easily stow inside your pack pocket. They can be attached to a pole to increase comfort and reach high or low. Last, the blade folds safely into the handle.Which leads me to my recommended safety improvements for this product:1. Typically, when stowed, camp saw blades are submerged into the handle for safety reasons. The blade on this saw is moderately exposed when folded away. Possibly a deeper handle or change in angle when folding would improve this.2. Typically, camp saws lock in both the open and closed positions for safety reasons. This saw locks only in the open position. The hinge side of the saw blade would need to be made higher so it could latch closed with the same mechanism that locks it open.For these two reasons, I cannot bring this saw on scout camping trips for my scout troop to use. But, it is still my favorite saw to use around the property.

Product wise I would give this saw 5 stars, but I bought this for one purpose. I wanted to take this hunting with me to make brush blinds and clear troublesome branches from my shooting lanes. But the smell of the sheath and saw is so strong I can smell them from a different room after I opened the box. This is a no no when hunting deer. So if you are buying this saw for hunting be advised if you take this into the woods with you make sure you a way downwind of where the deer come from or you will get winded quickly.
