Very good but could be some easy improvements
The paper is rolled up and needs to be flattened to use. Overall it is good but could be better. The book is excellent.

Love it! Perfect for beginners. Exactly what I was looking for.
So happy with this purchase. Initially I thought it was too expensive but now I know it was worth every penny!! I bought this product hoping to learn modern calligraphy so that I can address my wedding invitations - and it's been perfect! It comes with a very helpful and easy to follow instruction book, 3 nibs (for various size/style), practice sheets and ink. It even specifies the exact products so that you can buy replacements should you need them. I really love that it teaches you both classic and modern calligraphy. My only problem was the way the practice sheets were packaged, but after communicating with the seller, it seems like that will be changed.I already feel like I'm comfortable enough to address my wedding invitations. Just saved myself over $2k by not having to hire a calligrapher!Highly recommend this product.

Not quite for beginners
I picked up five different books, including one on the kindle. This has the least instruction of all of them, and is also the least into more advanced techniques too. It has five full alphas with practice pages one line across two pages for each alphabet. BUT, it does not show you how to hold your pen, or give you practice pages on brush strokes, etc.The paper is thin and it would only be possible to practice with tracing paper though plenty of practice space is provided.Brush pens bleed through. Even the type on the back of the page shows through --Still five different full alphas is nice, but Beginner is a misnomer. The book Brush pen Lettering by Grace Song has a lot more beginner tips, but is still not as comprehensive as the Brush Lettering from A to Z book by Emma Witte which is nice paper and has details on how to hold a brush pen, even for lefties. This is great with a lot more alphabets than those other two that I have had time to go through, but beginner is definitely a misnomer on this one.

Enjoying my new hobby
The materials in the kit provides everything for the beginner, or, like me, someone who wants to refresh skills learned long ago. . I had my doubts, because my everyday handwriting has become atrocious, but was pleasantly surprised how easily I caught on and how nice it looks. I began by reading the guide book and then immediately followed the easy instructions. The guide book contained lessons to build skills at my own pace. There are some tips on how to enhance the strokes to make it my own. I like that there are 3 very different nibs to practice with. Tip: Upon arrival, remove the papers from the box, uncurl them, roll them the opposite way, lay them flat and place a book on them to flatten them. I would definitely recommend this kit to anyone who is new to this art, or needs a refresher course.
