Over that Kevlar, is a rubber coating to give it even more durability without sacrificing comfort or movement. There is a Velcro ankle strap that acts as a built in gator to help slow down the air bubble travel to your foot when inverted.Most boots like this have an extremely soft bottom which makes walking on gravel, rock, or other eneven surfaces uncomfortable or painful. This boot has a more substantial sole that you will be comfortable in regardless of the terrain and will hold up to abuse over time. You can see the rubber overmolding that was added for increased durability where other boots fail.
