This is the second action maker set released for Mage Wars (the first included green and yellow marker and can be found here:b Mage Wars: Action Marker Set .There are two key reasons to buy this expansion.(1) You want to play a 3-4 player version of the game. The base game includes just two colors (red and blue), and you will need additional/different colors action markers (and additional quickcast markers) if you want to play with more than two players. This set includes 10 markers of each color, plus 2 quickcast markers). As others have noted you also need another board for the 3-4 player game, but if you are playing with someone else who has the game that will not be a problem (but, you'll definitely want additional colors to play with more than two players regardless).(2) You like the color purple. As noted above, the base set only includes the colors red and blue (and you can get green and yellow in the first action marker set). But, if someone else has already selected green (my favorite color), I like to use the color purple (my backup choice when possible). So, this was a must have for me. The other color it includes is gray, so I suppose the same could be said if you like to play gray.Note, you only need one extra set of action markers to play with 3-4 player. So, if you like green and/or yellow the first one will be a better choice for you, if you like purple and/or gray, this one will be a better choice. I bought both because I like both green and purple, and wanted to have lots of options when playing. But, I don't think you really need both and that one will do for most people.
