The German sports car of discs
Discs are discs...correct?Now, I know different. And I almost typed in "frizbee" as previously, I thought that the term, though I know Wham-O™ owned the trademark, was generic. From here on out, this is a Disc. It's not a frizbee. Not that frizbees are bad - they're awesome! It's just that all discs are not equal...like all sports cars are not equal. Here's my experience:I'm not a pro-disc player or even an enthusiast...just like to play with the fam. Our Wham-O—like a typical family frizbee—was old, faded, scuffed but still fun. However, after twenty years (!) of abuse and neglect, a crack formed and began to destroy it's ability to fly well.Since I'm an Amazon Prime member, I sometimes augment my other purchases with stuff I want but don't need...and looked up Frizbees to find this one.Last night, we glowed it up and went outside to see A. how it'd fly and b. if the glow works... and wow! It really is a step-up in disc performance!Compared to the Frizbee, this disc is a little bigger in diameter, a little thinner on top and a little stouter on the sides. A center dome is also less pronounced. This translates in a flatter, longer-time flight. Any sense of loft, climb or hang-time is much lower than the Frizbee, too. Some of the fun of flying Frizbee IS that "loft" - the hovering at the apex of a through followed by a subtle change in direction and gentle catch. I could still manage somewhat of the same experience but it required a more intentional throw, both in power and specific release. However, the thing tracks like a missile; altitude is dumped only at the end of the flight's energy. And it's accurate, too!At the end of the night, I was conscious of having to throw the disc somewhat harder than the Frizbee but the game had also spread out by at least 30% because the thing was simply flying further.I recommend this disc without reservation but it's a different experience than the traditional Frizbee. Disc-wonks may want both brands but for me, this one is the one I want to drive!Oh - the glow is pretty awesome; it looks more like the enhanced picture than you'd think. In the sunlight, however, it looks like typical faded-clear-whitish-yellow glow stuff.

great disc for ultimate at sunset and glow frisbee fun
Holds a very long glow if you put it in front of a car headlight for a minute or two it will glow very strong for a good 5-10 minutes, we then charge it with a flashlight or headlamp along the discs edges to keep it fairly bright. We throw this around alot when we go camping and at family gatherings.Perfect ultimate disc very understable with a ton of glide. you can throw it with a lot of finesse and it will fly very far with ease.

Good frisbee, glow is a bit lack luster
Good weight, flies straight, glow in the dark. Glow lasts about 15 min in the dark, good for low light, but not darkness.

Discraft vs. Wham-O for Competative Ultimate
This will be a short breakdown on the Discraft 175g Ultimate disc vs. the Wham-O Ultimate Frisbee.I am mostly a Defensive player but while on Offense I am next to our "Sniper" to give him an out if needed. This means I mostly throw shorter distances.Wham-O: This 175g disc is what I used at the high school level. Mine has taken many hit against trees, streetlights, and cement. Used it over the course of two years playing six days out of the week for 2-3 hours during the spring, summer and fall seasons. I was happy with this disc as a novice and transcending into one of the better players on the team. For local tourneys set up by people without much experience(or a random charity event) this may be used as the game disc since it can be found at any Walmart or Target. I paid $10 plus tax($0.06 per dollar)Discraft: I made the switch to the 175g Discraft disc since it is the standard for competitive play. Glad I did. This disc seems to be a tad thinner on top than the Wham-O but slightly thicker on the sides. The Discraft design levels out in the air faster and more evenly than a Frisbee. After about 2 hours of adjusting to it I can toss this about 30% to 35% farther to my teammate with a simple fast backhand(light on the arm, most power comes from wrist). My flicks with this are roughly the same. Feel-wise, The Discraft is a sports car to Wham-O's minivan. I paid $11 with free shipping.I highly recommend the Discraft since it has the same pricetag and outperforms Wham-O.Also from experience, if you think you'll be playing a lot, pick up a 3 pack. One for scrimmages/mini tourneys, one for training with the team, and one for messing around with your friends. Chances are the messing around disc will receive many scrapes on the sides and sill turn into a flying saw blade(with rough up hands and even cut them) after repeated landings on cement sidewalks or parking lots. Your team practice disc will probably go this way as well(random lamppost/goalpost hit, tossing in the parking lot waiting for teammates to show up.)

Great frisbee but doesn't glow at all
This is a nice frisbee but doesn’t glow at all. I think the first day we got it, it glowed some. After that, it stopped glowing. I think it’s not meant to stay outside. We kept it outside and within the first week the color of the frisbee changed (darkened) and won’t glow at all now. It’s a shame because it really does fly nice.

First, it arrived so much faster than I expected ...
First, it arrived so much faster than I expected. I'm deployed, with an APO address, and it made it to me in mess than two weeks. KudosWe play a lot of ultimate frisbee here on base. This particular disc flies so well. It's exactly what I hoped for. I can't say how much the glow helps, because our field is lit after dark, but I can say that it is most definitely glow in the dark! It lights my bag on the walk over to the gym!
