Fun book
This is another fun story from Duffy Brown in her Consignment Shop Series. Walker Boone is framed for murder when his father [a man who had avoided acknowledging his son for years] is killed after leaving Boone valuable property in his will. On the run from police, it is up to Reagan Summerside, Kiki, and friends to save the day.The story is fun, the secondary characters are great - quirky, but not cloying. Reagan is her usual charming self. The plot meanders a little but still moves at a comfortable pace. I congratulate the author for putting in a major clue midway through the book, but disguising it so well it is easy to overlook. The puzzle is actually a good one. There is one interesting new subplot (perhaps a future mystery) concerning the Prissy Fox and two divas with missing husbands. There are also fun adventures for Reagan in Boone's pristine 1957 Chevy. My only problem with the book is the relative absence of Boone. He's around, but not much. The author throws in a surprise on the last page. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but time will tell.

Best Little Consignment Shop in the South
Duffy Brown just continues to write great cozies! I am not a stickler for reading books in order. I feel you could just pick up this 5th installment without a big hitch but you would miss out on so much of the fun of getting to know the characters and watching the relationship between Reagan Summerside and Walker Boone. The author has a great way of writing and she seems to have as much fun developing her quirky Southern characters as the reader has in reading about them and their antics. What do a court judge, a dance instructor who used to follow Cher on tour, a maid who also does the makeup for dead people, a caterer dating a gang member turned financial analyst/broker, a sweet dog named after Bruce Willis, a bad boy turned lawyer, a divorced socialite turned to consignment shop owner because she can't make money any other way, Southern high society mavens and misters, a few dead bodies, retired teacher sisters who hire out as professional mourners, and southern foods/drinks have in common? They all are part of this mystery series and lead to hilarity on every page! The mystery is twisty but solved in the end. Boone will get his woman. But will Reagan really have to turn to less clothing and more furniture consignment to survive a rival boutique? Will those twisted black widow sisters turn up in another book as yet unpublished? I sure hope so!

Southern Fiction and Cozy Mystery Make a Great Mix
With each book, I love this series more and more. You learn more about the characters. You see Reagan and Boone's relationship evolve. You get treated with a challenging mystery to solve. I can't say that I saw this one coming. This masterful storyteller developed all these twists and turns to throw the reader off. I honestly didn't know who the killer was; I knew who it probably wasn't, but couldn't be sure who the murderer was until it was revealed. The ending of Demise in Denim will definitely make readers want to stay tuned for Lethal in Old Lace, the next book in the Consignment Shop Mystery series, which is due out this spring. Southern fiction and cozy mystery...is there anything better than that mix? Though this is a stand alone, you'll certainly want to join Reagan and crew right from the beginning.

DUFFY BROWN IS THE BEST
I wish I could give this book 20 stars. It was that good. This whole series has been wonderful and I always feel like Im leaving friends when I finish one. I checked " some violence" in the block but its not enough to bother a person except an incident about the dog which bothered me but Im just real sensitive about animals and it turned out to not be serious, so dont let that keep you from reading it. This book takes place in Savannah as all the others have which is great it sounds like such a beautiful place. I even went so far as to look up Savannah on the internet to get an even better feel for the books and most of the places they talk about are real. Its a great cozy mystery, with a little romance, a few laughs and some wonderful characters. I have two questions for Ms Brown though: What happened to the two older gentlemen, C&C and when is the next book in this series coming out? Super soon I hope.

Hold onto your Hat , Regan and the Gang are going to take you for a Wild and Crazy Ride!
Oh Duffy Brown, you surely have taken us for a wild and crazy ride with Demise in Denim and I loved every minute of it. And nothing like leaving Regan's fans with a cliffhanger on the roller coaster for an ending. Thanks a lot! Really, it might be good to read the novella available on eread first but honestly if you have read the first books in the series, not necessary to enjoy this one. So full of Southern Charm, and ooga booga superstition or is it really..whether it be in Charleston, SC or right here in Savannah, Ga..the two are connected at the intersection of good food and folklore. And oh my...that Walker Boone- surely he didn't kill his out of wedlock Daddy and how does he keep popping up just at the right time and appear to Regan & BW..Aunt Kiki, Mama the Judge and the cast of characters that provide the old Greek Chorus. Not going long on this review but just know it is one of those cozies that I purposely put down a time or two overnight just so I could continue the ride and read! Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of this fun adventure filled with the usual suspects and then some.

Run away Boone
OMGGGG!! the the end just made me screammm. I loved the novella that was all Boone and the book continued with with Reagan's and Boone but of course Reagan took center stage and how she handles the Boone situation is a hoot. The murder wasn't hard to solve but it was interesting to see how everyone viewed the relationship between Boone and Reagan especially when it came to him being accused of murder and how Reagan when out of her way to clear him and defend him to all that would declare him guilty because of his history and background. The murderer won't surprise you but you will find the killers reason for killing some what mind boggling. But the ending , the blasted ending AHHHHHH!!!!
