UPDATE 10/4/2019: I recently spoke with Virzen's Customer Support and they corrected my original review. The back of the monitor is glass, not plastic as I originally thought. They also offered to send me a number of accessories to test and review as well, so I will update again once I have those. The Customer Support has been very responsive and polite in answering my questions. For this reason I have increased my rating from four stars to five.Background:I purchased this monitor with my own money after looking at numerous other options. The first monitor that I received had a damaged box(the product box, not the shipping box) and the bezel/frame around the screen had pulled away from the screen and been bent. I tried to push it back into place but the adhesive would not hold and the bend placed too much pressure on the panel causing light bleed. I contacted Virzen and they directed me to contact Amazon. No issues there. Amazon refunded my money and I purchased another of these monitors. The replacement monitor showed up in a few days and in pristine packaging. Further examination led to the discovery of some discrepancies. They are:1. The box for the original did not have a cardboard sleeve around it that says "Virzen Portable Monitor" like the new one does.2. The new one was shrink-wrapped, the original was not.3. The new one has a micro-USB OTG port, I do not think the original did.4. The USB-C to USB-C cable included with the new one looks to be of higher quality and was tied with a Velcro wrap rather than a plastic sleeve. This is much preferred.5. The internal packaging on the new one was much better. The screen was wrapped in a plastic sleeve and sandwiched between two sheets of foam. The original only had the plastic sleeve and one sheet of foam on the screen.It seems that the original I received may have been previously owned and possibly an older variant of this device.Now to focus on the new device.Overview:The image quality is good and clear. It has a decently bright picture, but it could stand to be a little brighter. I was really happy to see that all the necessary cables(USB C - USB C, USB A - USB C, HDMI - HDMI) were included and they were a reasonable length. They also included a wire stand and a USB wall plug. Setup and usage is very simple and really cuts down on the needed cables. You can plug your laptop charger(USB-C) into the top port of the screen and then plug the USB-C - USB-C cable into the main port on the laptop and get to work. The screen will be able to run at full brightness and your laptop will charge in this configuration, thus only needing one additional cable. Fantastic.Build:The overall build quality seems good, with the bezel/frame being made out of a thin metal presumably aluminum. The back of the monitor seems to be made out of a nice glossy plastic. Ports are a little tight at first but honestly, I prefer that over loose ones. The cables seem to be decent with the USB-C - USB-C being the most premium feeling. On the whole, it feels well made and is surprisingly light despite the partially metal construction. It is reasonably rigid and does not have too much flex.Complaints/Suggestions for Improvement:These are in no particular order.1. I would like to see all the accessories matching as currently the USB wall plug and USB-A cable are white and everything else is black.2. The adhesive around the top of the bezel/frame still seems weak and needs to be improved.3. There is a small gap around the control box on the back of the screen that allows light to escape when the unit is powered on.4. The control wheel on the right side of the unit can be a little difficult to use while holding the screen but using a stand(there is a wire one included) mostly resolves this.5. I would like to see all the accessories matching as currently the USB wall plug and USB-A cable are white and everything else is black.6. A micro-USB to USB-A would be a welcome addition to the kit to make use of the OTG port without needing to buy an additional piece.7. A folio-style case or some kind of case that protects the screen is desperately needed. The panel is very thin and I worry about scratches or damage when carrying it in a bag or backpack.8. Perhaps the case could also incorporate some kind of cable storage behind the screen to make use of the space between the back of the panel and the back of the control box.9. Packaging needs to be consistently used and package assembly could be improved. The accessory area in the box was not placed properly and the accessories had shifted and were wedged deep in the box. I fixed this for the photos.10. It would be nice if the maximum screen brightness were a little higher.11. Velcro straps on all of the cables would be nice. It would cut down on waste, be more useful and would add to a premium fit and finish.12. More padding in the box would be better. There is a customer picture on Amazon for the 13-inch version and everything is encased in foam. This would be a better option.

UPDATE March 2023:The monitor no longer works, powers up but will not display anything. I reached out the the seller via email but never heard back. I got a good 2.5 years out of it which I guess is acceptable but then I compare it to the HP 24" monitor I have used from well over 8 years without any issues and I'm not so accepting of 2.5 years. Between the shorter than expected life span and the lack of support, I'm dropping the review to 3 starsUPDATE June 2020:I’ve been working from home since March 17 due to the pandemic. Given my living arranges, spouse & 3 kids (1 in college), my normal desk/office is in the bonus room where my daughter is now living. She using the desk with my standard 24” monitor for her studies and I work full time now from a small writing desk in my room. There is no way a full size monitor would fit here, even just my open 17” laptop takes up too much space on this little desk. Yet this small portable monitor fits just right and still gives me full HD views. I’ve been using the monitor full time now, 9+ hours a day, 5 days a week and it’s still going strong.I find I have to keep the backlight setting at 100% but that’s not an issue as long as you have sufficient power. The same idiosyncrasies still apply with navigating thru the menus, but the quality of the picture and its perfect performance as a full time/only monitor over the past 3 months is impressive.The sound is not very loud, good enough to hear chimes and alerts but for use with video calls, music or watching movies, I would recommend another sound source like external speakers or a headset.I would love to jump my rating up to 5 stars, but I’m very picky and for me 5 stars is perfect. I previously said this monitor is 4.5 stars, I think I would bump that up to 4.75 stars considering the quality, value for money and some minor short comings.ORIGINAL:I’m using this screen as a portable screen for use in the field when doing astronomy with a headless, mini PC controlling my telescope & camera.Using this at night, the screen brightness is perfect! However, when using during the day indoors, I needed to increase the backlight to 100%. Not complaints, just an observation.The navigation switch to enter menus and make selections at times seems counterintuitive, toggling up moves the selection down but that’s very minor.Lastly, the Amazon description indicates the HDMI port on the monitor is standard size. However, it is mini HDMI. A 3ft long HDMI to mini HDMI cable is included.Overall very happy with monitor. If I could, I would give it 4.5 stars in stead of 4 (since I feel 5 stars is reserved for perfect).

First off, this screen is pretty amazing!!!! Per Prime, it came on time and in great condition. The screen is packaged very well. Right out of the box, I plugged it in to check the screen for any defects. What I got just about blew my mind!!!! This little baby shows an impressive picture!!!!! Colors are vibrant, no ghosting, no pix-elation, and I couldn't stop looking at it. Before I knew it, I had hooked up some BT speakers and was watching it like I would a television. I initially had it hooked up to a 25,000mah battery pack to power it. I must've played for 2 hours or so and while maintaining a 100% charge on my phone (Note 10+) and powering the screen the battery pack dropped maybe 10%. And that was with nonstop video. I am so excited that I made the decision to purchase this screen. My kids love it so much that I might have to buy another one just to get one to myself. I got it on a lightning deal so there was a discount, but I would highly recommend this screen to anyone in the market. I have only dabbled a bit with it as a computer monitor (Samsung Dex), but it looked just as good. Only 4 stars until I've had it long enough to comment on longevity, but I will update in a few weeks. Otherwise, get it!!!!!

The monitor is extremely thin and light weight and is very clear and bright. The brightness is best when powered by the provided external power adaptor. However it is Thunderbolt 3.1 USB C compatible and will power and send the video and audio signal with just one USB Cable and the brightness is just perfect for normal indoor use. It is clear and comes with all the cables you will need and the speakers are very decent for the size of the monitor! The second picture is the right side of the monitor and it has a Mini HDMI port, USB C Thunderbolt 3.1 compliant port to carry both video and sound using one cable. It also has another USB C port to plug in the power from the provided power adaptor. The third picture is the left side of the monitor with another USB C port for connecting accessories and a headphone-out 3.5mm port and the rocker control for volume, input type and other settings to be selected. The monitor comes with a included magnetically attached cover which also serves as a stand. As I am using it on a slippery office desk I have purchase a more stable stand. The provided cover/stand is great but it will slip on a smooth desk surface and a friend of mine who also bought this monitor after seeing mine had a cracked screen after the monitor fell onto his wireless mouse after slipping forward. Overall amazing value for money and the item was delivered to Australia from USA in the midst of their first wave Covid in record five days including weekend days! Can’t ask for more!

Great portable monitor for improving productivity when away from my main setup.Nice packaging with multiple connectors included (easy connection via USB-C), and a good range of adjustments.Does take a minute to get to a stable position with the folding cover / portable stand on some surfaces.

It is a good monitor for it's price, nice colors and love the thin borders you wouldn't really notice it really there as if there was no borders to start with.I was skeptical at first but after i got it it was definitely worth it

Great thing about this portable monitor is you can chose port hdmi or USB-c.I was looking for this size portable monitor around this price range, and I think I made best choice.

Product didn't work. Put the cables at its right places. All the wires were working but the monitor didn't work. The look over all was just average and it has the most cheap side wheel type button for the settings... The screen remain blue and didn't connect to my phone. I have samsung A70. There wasn't any tech support available nor the small leaflet inside helped.Poor support. Not recommended.Returned the product and got my refund in 4 weeks.
