Common Core Curriculum: English, Grades 6-8 (Common Core English: The Wheatley Portfolio) Paperback – May 12, 2014

This book was extremely helpful as I was preparing a curriculum guide for a private high school. I prepared year-long English curricula for ninth through twelfth grade that were all approved for the California UC a-g system, all based on suggested materials and lessons in this book. I plan to use it again to adapt it to suit other schools as well.

Book was an updated version from an old one I have used for a few years. Looking for a strong curriculum outline? I LOVE THE WHEATLEY PORTFOLIO!!

Very good I would buy again

Not at all what I was looking for. A bit tedious and frustrating to work your way through.

At first glance, this book is less than impressive. However, after spending time developing my units around its suggestions, I find it to be absolutely invaluable. This book is a resource for multiple subject areas/ teachers to reference as they build cross-curricular, vertically aligned thematic units. It does not provide a detailed instructional sequence, but it does give a general timeline for each unit. The units include lists of resources for every subject area and a suggestion for what you can do with them to assess specific standards. It sat on my shelf for a year before I realized what it was. It has been a great tool in reshaping the curriculum at our school.
