These are surprisingly nice hinges for the price. They do come from China but are well made, polished brass but not to shiny. The brass is 3/32'' thick, quite a bit thicker than most of the small hinges sold today. These aren't as good as Brusso hinges but I only use those on very special projects because of the high price.In the last photo I cut a 5/16'' x 1'' mortise in the 1/2'' box wall.Brass plated steel, phillips screws are supplied with these, 13/32'' long

They would be okay if they included screws, but they don’t. I ordered some # 6 flat head brass screws and while they are the right shape, the heads are too thick so the hinge wouldn’t close flat if I used them. Can’t say for sure if they would be best with #2 or #4 screws, but all I am finding are quantities of 100 - 200 at around $12 / $20. I doubt if I would use 100 of these in 3 lifetimes.Maybe time to cut my losses and order some hinges that come with screws. Either that or order a 100 lot and give keepsake boxes for Christmas for the next 15 years.

Extruded solid brass hinges are better quality than the brass plated hinges you buy at Menards. I should add, the hinges do not come wit screws. Use #4-1/2” Solid brass Phillips head screws Also sold on Amazon.

These are excellent hinges for small boxes. I’ve used these on smallish keepsake boxes that I’ve built. Much better than almost all of the small hinges I can easily buy - thicker brass. These are not brasso hinge quality but better than anything you can find at the hard ware or big box store. Perfect size for boxes around 12”x6” and smaller.These don’t come with screws and I have used them with both #3 and #4 brass wood screws.

Thicker metal and higher quality than the hinges your typical Chinese jewelry case is made with.

These appear well made, but have a wire brushed finish that, to me, looks more like the steel ones with brass coating. The one on the bottom in the pic was put on the buffing wheel on my grinder for a minute or two. The scratches are from my using unpadded pliers to hold.Nice solid hinge, with no play, but be aware that if you want a polished brass look, you’ll have to polish yourself.

These are absolutely terrible hinges. They don’t include mounting screws which I found hidden in the description after opening the package. The screw holes are misaligned, at different lengths from each end and offset front to back. All problems I didn’t discover until after I had cut the mortises.Now, my box lid is offset to the side and back (the first box I’ve ever made with a misaligned lid). The cheap packs that the big box stores may be thinner, but line up perfectly. Either buy those or splurge for Brusso. These are miserable.
