This is a very informative and detailed book, with very clear instructions for painting portraits of birds with acrylic paint. The author gives great directions on composition and the specific features of birds (and how to paint those features realistically). I highly recommend this book. This is a nice book, aimed at beginners. It is a stroke by stroke, color by color rundown of painting specific birds - Eurasian birds, as it turns out. I am a somewhat experienced bird painter, and was hoping for something a bit deeper, with information that would expand my understanding and expertise. STILL, it's a nice book for beginners.

Book was a gift for my daughter who is a budding artist and also has 4 birds. She said the book was beautiful, described what characteristics define each type of bird. She commented that it is not a book for kids but a way to technically illustrate many different types of birds. Only negative comment was the time from order to delivery was longer than average.

This book is a must have for your library if you are interested in painting birds. I hope that he will offer some video tutorials in the future to go with the book. He has an interesting technique for painting with acrylics that tempted me to move from watercolors to try a new medium. His techniques can be used to paint a lot more than just birds.

Birds are my favorite subjects to paint, and this book has supplied me with tips and tricks o the right colors and techniques to capture why I love them so much.

Great hardcover book with a multitude of instructions, tips and full color illustrations. I was not expecting this book so soon; However, it was delivered three days before the expected delivery date. It is really a great book for any bird watching enthusiast or any artist who paints birds, either novice or expert. I recommend this book

Disappointed. I thought there would be more instructions on drawing the birds . Seems very basic.

Excellent! Well drawn and beautifully painted. Explained very clearly and helpful to beginners and experianced painters. I have drawn birds from a very young age and now in my 50's but have struggled with painting them at times. This book has helped me so much allready I would recommend it to every one interested in painting birds and its in pride of place on my book case.

Fabulous book with lots of different coloured birds to paint. Although it is for acrylics, works just as well with watercolour.
