Rachel Khoo's Sweet and Savoury Pâtés

Don't buy it on Kindle
Another crass example of letting the interns format the Kindle version. The pictures are all distorted - a quarter inch high and page wide - and there is no table of contents. True, there are hotlinks in the index, but that's NOT how I browse a cookbook. You have a chapter on "Chocolate"? Show me the chocolate recipes, so I can see if there's anything interesting. We have a couple of Rachel's books in print, but this travesty went straight back for a refund

I got this book because I wanted to own all of Rachel's cookbooks. This is her second cookbook, but I think it is one of her strongest next to My Little French Kitchen and Kitchen Notebook. The recipes in this book lean more towards the sweet side but are cohesive and versatile enough to be easily adapted depending on what ingredients you have on hand. A book about spreads might not seem that exciting or interesting, but there are some good recipes for caramel, fruit, nut, or chocolate and savory ones like chicken pâté or carrot hummus. Along with her granola book, the amount of possibilities for breakfast or snack items is endless.

A ganache is not pate and toxic ingredient
I was so diappointed in this book. It would have been more honestly titled Ganaches, Curds, Spreads and Jams. There are a few pate and savory recipes. I was alarmed to see tonka bean as an ingredient (illegal in the United States; liver damage, anyone?). The recipes are tasty, but this volume really stretches the definition of pate. I would not call Nutella a sweet pate. Some of the ingredients readily available in UK and Europe are not easily obtained in the US (such as preserving sugar--a sugar/pectin blend). So while this is a pretty, nicely photographed book, I can't recommend it because the title is deceptive. If you are looking for a pate, mousse and terrine book, keep on looking. The recipes are good, they just aren't all pates.

Great Little Book!!
I have been a big fan of Ms. Khoo's tv show for a while now. I decided to purchase her recipe books and give a whirl. All of the recipes are really easy to make, directions are clear and understandable too.The only problem is the photos of the recipes are distorted. I have the Kindle Fire HDX and the photos do not display properlyI truly recommend her recipe book!! =)

A small book with some lovely savoury and sweet recipes which are easily to follow
A small book with some lovely savoury and sweet recipes which are easily to follow, I usually get my books from the library first as my bookcase is getting full and I have been disappointed in the past, this has now had to go back to the library so I have got one on order as it is the type of book you will pick up for inspiration last minute, the chocolate recipe is next on the hit list and the lemon curd turned out well.
