Featuring a silver analog dial and a silver stainless steel band, this watch is packed with style and would be a great addition to your watch collection. This is an automatic mechanical watch. Automatic watches do not operate on batteries; instead, they are powered automatically by the movement of the wearer’s arm. If the main spring in your automatic watch is not wound sufficiently, timekeeping may become less accurate. In order to maintain accuracy, wear the watch for 8 hours or more per day, or manually wind the main spring by turning the crown. When not in use, automatic watches may be kept charged with an automatic watch winder – a watch storage unit which may be purchased separately.

Wonderful Watch - Surpassed Expectations
I wanted a simple watch that did not require battery replacement. There were two choices for me - solar or automatic. Since I did not want to go digital I figured that this looked pretty nice... so I researched it. I was pretty happy with what I found out about Seiko's automatic watch process. Although the reviews on Amazon were positive they did not have too much information yet. I thought I would add some details below.1. Delivery and Appearance:The watch looks exactly like the picture... simple and elegant. I wanted something I could wear to work, but not over the top. The watch comes in a very strong blue box with the watch inside wrapped around a Seiko pillow. The quality and thoughtfulness exceeded expectations for my first Seiko. This is a very well built and solid watch without being heavy. Nothing feels cheap about the watch.2. Basic Features (this is a lot of bang for your buck)A-Stainless SteelB-Water Resistant 30mC-Hardlex CrystalD-Lumibrite Hands & MarkersE-Automatic (self-winding)3. Unexpected FeaturesA - Day on the Dial: The picture of the dial shows "Sun" for Sunday in the color red for the Day. This is accurate, but there are three colors for the Day feature during an entire week. Sundays are in Red, Weekdays are in Black, and finally Saturdays are in Blue. I really like this distinguishing feature. In addition the watch arrived with the Day in Spanish. I was pretty upset, thinking that I somehow ordered the wrong watch. However this is a multilingual display. Just pull the crown out one notch and spin it to set the Day and you just keep going until you reach the language and day you want. If you spin it the other way you are changing the Date.B - Screw See Through Case Back: Basically the back of the watch case is transparent and you can see the watch's automatic winding mechanism in process as you tilt the watch back and forth. When showing the watch to others, everyone is fascinated by observing this process. I suggest you run an image search for "Seiko 5 case back" and you will get an idea of what the back looks like. Specifically you're looking for the images of the back of the "Seiko 7S26C".C - The watch was not made in China. It is made in Malaysia, this was a pleasant surprise for sure.Overall - I'm very happy with all aspects of the watch. I think this would make a wonderful and extremely affordable gift. I highly recommend this watch as there is a lot of value when you consider quality and features.---Update August 2012---Still very happy with the watch and it looks great. I do want to point out that the current price is much higher than what I paid for it here on Amazon. I paid about $45 with shipping. I would still say that the watch is still worth it, but there is a noticeable difference in price changing its value.

This is a Lovely, Durable Automatic Mechanical Watch!
This is a mechanical, automatic movement watch. It doesn't use a battery, it needs a living moving person to make it tick. It's really a symbiosis of sorts-it moves because you move. It lives because you live!I've been wearing this watch semi-daily for over a year now. I wear it to work and on the weekends doing odd jobs around the house. I do not treat it gently, yet have had not a single issue. It looks great with the silver dial and brushed stainless band. This watch keeps good time and has plenty of reserve power. I have several other Automatic watches, mostly Seiko. I keep other watches on winders, but this one, as my daily beater, lives on my nightstand or on my wrist. It keeps reserve power till about a day and a half passes. This watch is a comfortable size, not too large or bulky, nor too small as to be dainty. You can keep this watch inside your shirtsleeve's cuff if desired. The day and date is easy to set. The band is good quality, commensurate with the watch. I adjusted the band size myself, thanks to some DIY help from YouTube. If you are considering entry into the world of automatic movement watches, consider starting with a Seiko 5 to guarantee a great experience. You can spend as little on a Seiko 5 as you might spend on a flashy chinese junk watch, and you can spend as much on a Grand Seiko as some might spend on prestigious Swiss brands.

Seiko 5 is the best value watch ever
I've bought many automatic watches, including some expensive Swiss brands. Eventually I ended up selling them all in favor of my Seiko 5 sport (not this watch) which was like 100 bucks. You just can't beat the value. They look good and last forever. And it's a highly respected and reputable brand, so no one is going to sniff their nose at it either. This is the fourth Seiko 5 I've bought; got it as a gift for my cousin's graduation. Looks great on her - even though this is supposedly a men's watch, it's perfect for women too (I also bought a men's Seiko for my wife). They just look good no matter what. Don't hesitate, these are the best watches ever.

Incredible precission for the price.
I purchased this watch and after adjusting the band (had to remove a few links) started wearing it every day. I initially set the time using the time.gov site to make sure I got the official time down to the second. It's hard to believe but this watch has managed to stay within a few seconds of the official time for over three weeks! It may make or loose one or two seconds per day but it has never astray more than 6-8 seconds from the official time. I checked it right now and is running with a difference of about one second, probably half a second. I keep it on all day and night and only take it off for bathing or if I'm going out and wearing another watch but in general this is my day to day watch. I've also noticed that when worn it tends to loose about 1 to 2 seconds per day but when left dial up for a long time it tends to gain a few seconds per day. The power reserve is probably enough for it to run for about two days so my guess is that it runs a bit faster when the power is low and a bit slower when the power is high. The design of the watch looks very classy for a daily watch but probably not stylish enough if you are dressing formal. I will be buying other Seiko 5 watches in the future. For the price ( I paid about $60) and quality I don't think you can go wrong.

Quit after about 10 days.....returned
Good looking watch. Ad is misleading as pic shows day of week in English but some of mine were in Spanish. I could live with that, but the watch quit advancing the day of the week after about 10 days. Sure appreciate Amazon's return policy as I returned the watch for credit. Won't buy Seiko again.
