The Perfect Travel Blender
This blender doesn't have a ton of bells and whistles. It's not battery powered, it doesn't auto blend, it has just one speed and you gotta hold the button on down. And, it's PERFECT. I was using a Blendjet 2 for travel until TSA confiscated it as a weapon. You can't check a Blendjet because of the lithium ion battery either. I ordered this as an alternative hoping it would work and it's exactly what I need. It's cute, small enough to throw in a bag and blends up bananas and baby carrots exactly as a blender should. Totally worth it and will definitely buy again when this one wears out some day.Total game changer for healthy living as a frequent flyer.

Convenient size berween the bullit and a full-sized blender.
This blender is not designed with a tractor motor (!) but it has the power and the perfect capacity for my morning (or anytime) smoothie.Handles frozen fruits/veggies easily with any kind of liquid with a single "deadman's switch" for desired processing. Robust and simple.Best to rinse/clean directly after use

not bad
not bad. This worked ok for lighter weight things. Like blending the protein powder with milk. Not so much frozen berries per the teen.

This is a MARVELOUS little blender!
Very easy to use, and very easy to clean. It's nice that it's self contained, some of the others I've tried are not and they leak at the bottom. Not so with this one. It makes it SO much simpler to get things done! Just twist on, blend whatever you have to blend, and twist off. You don't even have to screw it on like a lightbulb. Just a simple 1/2 turn. The ONLY drawback is that it doesn't STAY on. You have to hold the button. Not a big deal for ME, but might be a pain for someone else. I really love mine! Am SO glad I got it! Would 100% recommend for a gift (but I'd never want to give mine away)!

Great Bargain for the Price
The Hamilton Beach Portable Blender offers convenience and affordability in a compact size, but falls short when it comes to performance and build quality. As a budget option, this portable blender has a lot to like - its slim profile and lightweight body make it easy to take on-the-go and to store, while its affordable price point makes blending accessible. However, all that portability comes at a cost; the plastic cup feels flimsy and prone to leaking, especially if dropped, and the 175-watt motor struggles to thoroughly blend thicker mixtures, leaving annoying chunks that require constant manual stirring. So while this blender nails portability and price, lackluster blending power and cheap housing leave something to be desired. For a portable mixer on a budget though, it gets basic blending done.

I am shocked at all the great reviews, unless I just ended up with a particularly bad unit. I was not expecting much from such an "affordable" blender - but the only reason for my purchase was to blend a single orange a couple of times a day. Not an apple, or carrots, but a single juicy orange. An inexpensive blender could do that, right? Well, technically, it can - with quite a bit of help. I would have to cut up the orange into pieces and make sure some were under the blades. OK, I understand why that would be as it would need something to catch onto when starting to blend. But, then I would have to repeatedly stop the blender and push more of the orange down under the blades - have to do this quite a few times, mushing the orange into more juice as I did it. I have done this twice a day for a couple of weeks. When I look at the base of the unit, it has a lot of white, fuzzy stuff all around the base of the unit. There are also tinges of green. The white particles are coming from the white plastic base attached to the motor. The green pieces are coming from the green, soft material attached to the blender cup. You can easily see the wear of both of these on the unit, so I would expect it not to last long. It might have performed well if I had added a good amount of water or other liquids to it -- but my expectations was that any blender should be able to blend something as soft and juicy as an orange without it causing wear and tear on the blades. I would usually end up with about 8 ounces, and I did not want watered down orange juice from having to add more liquid. As far as the lid goes, I only used it to blend with. I honestly would not trust it staying on when turning up to drink from because it only pushes on without a locking device. That was OK with me since it made it easier to take on and off to keep pushing the orange down into the blades. Also, I would pour the blended orange into another cup. I will try a different blender with higher wattage - turns out this one is only 175 watts. If I try one that is around 350 watts and it does not work well, then I should edit this review to reflect that - but hopefully I can find a small one to blend a single orange! Again, maybe tuis was just defective somehow to start with? I had ordered the blue one, and I will say I think the color is very nice.

Works great
I am using it to make strawberry and banana smoothies at work on lunch break instead of going out to eat. They are delicious. I added a bit too much milk earlier and made a bit of a mess. I have not used ice in it.
