Effective---Safe---Practical---Convenient---Time-saving---Well-made: Blade Savers work well, save time, & improve functionality
I love these and have been using them for a long time. I've personally never found anything that works as well.I own a ton of kitchen knives, including numerous 240mm+ Gyutos, a few costing well over $450 a knife. All were purchased individually. So there is no knife block that is nearly large enough, or has anywhere near the sizes I would need, to fit many or all of my knives. But given some of these knives are super expensive and have paper thin angles (under 10 degrees), there needs to be something to protect these blades. For that matter, it is critical to ensure that no knife blade make contact with another blade: two blades touching metal-on-metal can easily damage an edge or break a tip. With Blade Savers, you can avoid that from ever happening, plus add on a margin of safety for storage that can reduce the chance of an accidental injury. The sizes they make are convenient given they make a size for most any knife you might have. They slide on easy, they slide off easy, they stay on the knife, and they prevent anything from harming the blade. They also do NOT encourage the development of rust, are easy to clean and sanitize, and a lot less expensive compared to a knife block, display case, roll case, or wooden saya. And did I mention these are super convenient? I just pull my favorite Gyuto, a Konosuke Fujimaya, out of the drawer it lives in, remove the Blade Saver on it, use the knife, clean & dry the knife, and put it back in the Blade Saver. I actually think this is MORE convenient than a block given it takes no time at all to put these on, plus you can lay a knife on a surface (like next to a cutting board or on the counter) which would not be safe for the knife (and any people around it) without having the Blade Saver on it to cover the portion of the knife vulnerable to damage, which also happens to the the portion in which injuries occur from. This 4 piece value set is a nice value given it comes with some of the more common sizes, plus it saves you money over buying these piece by piece.Overall, this is a great product at a good price with tremendous functionality. If you own a kitchen knife (which I would go out on a limb to say most people own), then this is a must-have. It makes life a little easier, and a little safer.

Really Tight & Safety Issue
The reason why I gave this 3 stars is that the fit, to get the steak knife into the sleeve is hard because it's really, really tight. I nearly accidentally stabbed myself trying to get the steak knives into each sleeve. It's just way too tight. If the Chef Sac brand had this size available for steak knives, I would've bought from them because they had the right level of tightness - not loose nor too tight. This brand was the only one that offered 6 sleeves for steak knives.Update: 2/4/2021I really wanted to like these steak knife guards but they are a safety issue. I don't know if it's the batch I got but the sleeve is so tight even after taking the knife in and out. I've nearly stabbed myself a couple times and have to use something thing to get into the sleeve before I can get my knife in there. I'm on blood thinners, so it's imperative that I don't accidentally cut or stab myself. Duh.Since the Amazon search doesn't come up with any other vendor with steak knife sleeve guards, I did a Google search for steak knife guards or sleeves and found other manufacturers. The one I ended up choosing was by Messermeister. They sell for $25 with Prime here on Amazon, $10 more than this manufacturer. The price is $15 on their site but shipping is $10. Honestly, this package could fit in a regular envelope and would not cost more than $1.50. I ended up getting it from eBay from Messermeister as the seller. It was $15 plus $5 shipping, which was still overpriced for shipping but more reasonable. The Ultimate Edge guards are really long for Steak Knives. The steak knives I got are a normal length for steak knives, so I suppose there are people who use really big and long ones. The Messermeister guards are just the right size for my Misen steak knives. And what I like is there are notches on the top of the knife sleeves, so it helps when you're pressing your knife blade into the sleeve to allow it to go into the sleeve. The Ultimate Edge sleeves don't have these so there is a higher chance of accidentally stabbing yourself with your knife. But there are many good reviews for these sleeves, so maybe it's just me. However, still my favorite knife guard sleeves are from Chef Sac. They are really perfect and they were the first knife guards I got for my bigger knives. Too bad they don't have a set of 6 for steak knives.

Buying more after 4+ years . . . I like them
I bought these in 2011, so about 4.5 years ago. Two of them get almost daily use, on and off the knives, and are just now beginning to crack a little. I'm here to buy more, so I must be satisfied with it.Looking back over some other reviews, I'll report that there is not a scratch on any of the knives held in these covers. Maybe that's because I don't have expensive knives but the more utilitarian sort. One that I keep in these covers was my mother's, purchased in the 1950s and still going strong. I didn't get these so much for protection of the knife as I did for convenience for me and safety for the grandkids when they visit, and they do the job. I keep my most used knives safely handy in the utensil crock, except for the really big ones that stay in the drawer. As for using them, they fit well, as snug as I want them to be. To pop one off the knife, I gently press on the counter edge to loosen the sheath then carefully remove it.

These will fit the bill just fine. They are hard plastic
I bought some knives a while back, but didn't have anywhere to put them without leaving them exposed. Which, let's be honest, would have resulted in a few trips to the ER. Messermeister has a small knife guard, but it's a little more expensive, and I was looking for the economy option. These will fit the bill just fine. They are hard plastic, and won't slip off the knife--in fact, be careful getting them on; I had to use more force than expected trying to get them on my steak knives. The knives I have are between 5-6" long, so this knife cover may be slightly longer than what you absolutely need, but it will help keep you safe whilst slipping the knife in. Great product, great price.
