Round 6" Wall Plate for Nest by Greenfii

Attractive solution to the messed-up wall issue. Rather than spackling it and then painting the entire hallway (which would necessitate painting the whole living room to match) - this plate is large enough to cover our old thermostat's footprint once we moved the Nest about an inch over. Yes, it's weird to have a metal circle on your wall, but it matches the sides of the Nest perfectly and adds a bit of modern design touch.The photo shows a deceptively large diameter for the wall plate and I'm not sure why. The diameter is a true 6 inches, and the Nest takes up a lot of that real estate. So there is not a huge disk of metal on the wall, it is quite proportionate to the dimensions of the Nest, and it almost takes the design to its logical conclusion.Basically, you'd fix your wall if you wanted the most professional solution, but if you're not interested for whatever reason, this is a (comparably) cheap and easy fix!

Overall good looks, but as others have stated, this wall plate is far from a precision product. After a "couldn't be simpler" installation, I ran a Windex-soaked paper towel over the surface to remove all the fingerprints I put on it. As I worked my way toward the edge, I encountered at least 3 tiny "snags" on the perimeter of the disk. I wouldn't consider this necessarily dangerous, but it might be worth a light sanding and a couple of bumps against the ol' polishing wheel, just to be safe.While the holes drilled in the plate matched up perfectly with the Nest mounting hardware, the protective skin on the back of the steel disc was quite obviously burnt and mangled during the drilling process. It didn't affect the overall appearance of the item, but it sure made removing the film surprisingly difficult.

Just a very nicely cut circle of cheap aluminum. Not finished or well-brushed or anything. Perfectly round & flat, but uninteresting and industrial looking. I returned it.

Too small. Looks better in picture than in real life. Not worth the money. Did not really cover the area I wanted to. Not much better than the supplied plate with the nest. This is really a laser cut metal plate with four holes. Front and back pictures attached. Paper and burn marks noted on back. None of that would be visible after installation, but shows the sloppiness on part of the manufacturer. Definitely not worth more than 10-15 dollars.

It's true that there isn't much to it, nothing more than a laser-cut stainless steel disc. However it fits well (holes in the right place, mostly clean edges, perfectly round) and looks really cool with the Nest. Concerning fingerprints, application of a good kitchen stainless cleaner/polish prior to or post installation pretty much eliminates the problem. Also, based on the design of the Nest you won't be touching the back-plate much anyway unless you are feeling around in the dark for the thermostat.

This is a great addition to the nest, especially if the previous thermostat was larger than the Nest (which ours was). The backing plate that comes with the Nest is lackluster, so we wanted something that would properly accentuate this beautiful device. The Round Wall Plate answers the call.Please note that the wall plate comes shipped with just one finished side (the one that has a peel off coating on it). Many of the reviews mention that theirs was scratched/dinged/rusted, but they were looking at the wrong side. When you get it, turn it over to the side with the peel away coating and peel it off. The metal underneath will be shiny and new

I love the Nest! One of my favorite purchases in a long time. You can set the temperature from anywhere. If its really cold and your on your couch just pick up your phone and set the heat. Its very easy to install and actually I love coming downstairs and it automatically senses me and the light turns on. It lets you know how much energy you have used and has already saved me money.

The round edges are not fine. After installing looks great with Nest.
