A Godsend for iPhone 7/8 Users With Poor Battery Life
I always was jealous of my friends with the plus or max models of the iPhones - not because of the size, but because of the increased battery they benefited from. I loved the form of my iPhone 8 but HATED how the battery would drain in less than a day of use. Well, this product solves my battery woes. I’ve had this battery case on my iPhone 8 for the past week, and after using it for seven days straight, I felt ready to give my review on this product; I’ll try to cover everything I can think of and include pictures of the battery case on and off of my phone.Build:The inside of the case is lined with a light tan colored felt material to protect the glass back of the iPhone 8, front of the case has a rubber semi-flexible lip around the rim – so if you were to lay your iPhone on its front with the case on, the screen would be off the ground by a few millimeters. I have a glass screen protector on my iPhone 8 and the lip of the case kept my screen off the ground; if I dropped my iPhone sitting in the case from the top of a standard height table, I wouldn’t be too worried about damage - but anything higher than that might be a little too destructive for this case.On the sides, you’ll get molded (out of the same material) buttons for the wake/lock and volume rocker (with no etching or marks on either the volume or wake/lock buttons), as well as a cutout for the mute toggle switch (which is easy enough to access with a fingernail). It might be difficult for one to tell which switch which is at first with the lack of tactile feel, however I got used to this rather quickly. One other thing to note with the buttons – the case makes them harder to press in certain situations. You need to be exactly parallel to the button to press it, meaning that when the phone is lying flat on a table screen down and one tries to raise or lower the volume, the angle the finger presses the button at will not click it since it is not directly parallel to the button. Another instance of this is when trying to take a screenshot, as many times I ended up accidently locking the phone when attempting to click both the volume down button and the wake/lock button at the same time. This is just what happens when you have a bulky case and tiny buttons, it will take a little getting used to.Speaking of bulk – this case is thick. I mean, it is just barely thinner than a pair of Airpods in their charging case when side by side; think OtterBox Defender thick. It is also pretty heavy, easily the same weight as my iPhone 8 and double the weight of the phone when the case and the phone are together. This is fine by me, as weight and thickness are nonissues in return for longer battery life. However, to some this may be a concern when holding the phone or fitting the phone in your pocket (especially if you have tight pants with small pockets). If you are looking for a thinner and lighter solution, try the 3000mAh version of this case instead. On the bottom of the phone, you have two speaker cutouts for the left and right grills. You CAN cover up the speaker grill and mute the volume significantly on accident if you place your hand over the grill – believe me, this is very easy to do – so just be careful with how the phone is held when using the speaker for various activities. There is also a recessed Lightning port for charging – we’ll talk about that more in a minute. On the back, you get a bendable (but firm) rubbery bit at the top by the camera section that can bend down, then back into place. This is done so that you can bend it down and slide the iPhone into the case without the case needing to slide a part in two sections. It’s a pretty neat idea, but I worry about the longevity of this solution – if you don’t take your iPhone out of the case that often it is probably fine, but if you swap between cases regularly, this might become worn down and could cause your phone to slip out of the case. The rubber that surrounds the camera sits quite a bit lower than the rest of the back in order for the case to be able to bend to accommodate the iPhone being inserted. This slopes up to meet the integrated battery, which is coated in a soft-touch rubbery material and is fantastic at not slipping and being very grippy. It does have a tendency to show oil a bit, however everything so far that has gotten on my case, from oil to random gunk, I can just wipe off with some elbow grease and a cloth, and it seems to hold up pretty well in the time I have used it – not sure how well it will in the long run, as these soft touch rubber coatings never seem to do for too long, but so far it has been great. At the bottom of the battery, there are four white LED lights on the left side, and a little power button on the right side. One push of push the power button turns on the lights for ten seconds to show the charge level of the battery case: 4 lights are equal to or less than 100%, 3 lights are equal to or less than 75%, 2 lights are equal to or less than 50%, and 1 light is equal to or less than 25%. Holding the button for three seconds activates the charging function of the case, and in doing so, turns on the LED lights to indicate the iPhone is charging (the lights do not turn off while charging is activated). Holding the button again for two seconds while the case is charging will turn off the battery case, and the lights will turn off.My Experience:My iPhone 8 about a year and a half old, however its battery life is awful – after only a few hours, I’m down to 50% battery, so I needed a decent battery case to fix the issue. Most battery cases I’ve seen only use Micro USB as the connector instead of Lightning, and I really wanted to use a case with a Lightning port so I didn’t need to carry around two cables – and like I mentioned above, this case checks that box. There is a neat feature about that port I only learned about after a few days of use: you can use the built in Lightning port to connect headphones for listening to audio and to sync data across the connector. I assume, but have not tested, that one could also use this with CarPlay. While I am not sure how the manufacturer accomplished this, I’m not complaining – you could use this case as a daily case and you would have no need to take it off because of that, which is pretty cool. This could be blocked in an update by Apple in the future if they decide to restrict third party data access through the Lightning port, but for now it works and it works great. In my experience, I was able to charge my phone 2x over, meaning I was able to charge it from dead to 100%, and again from dead to 100%, and then perhaps still have a little juice left over - enough to get phone from dead to less than 25% charged. While it is not the biggest battery in the world, this case easily got me through two days of heavy and three days of light to moderate use without needing to plug the case/phone in. In my testing, the case would get warm but not too hot – similar to if you were using your iPhone for a while and the back got warm from a game or movie. Another thing to note - when using the case to charge the iPhone, even when the iPhone hit 100%, the case would continue charging the phone – meaning that you will need to manually turn off the case on from the button on the back, otherwise the battery in the case will deplete itself. When charging the case via the Lightning port, the LED indicator lights on the back would remain on the whole time while the iPhone/case is plugged in. I will note that I owned the 3000mAh version of the case previously, and the LED lights are MUCH dimmer on this unit. I do prefer this, as at night when you are charging the phone, the lights will light up in either a steady pattern (all four lights are on while when the case is full and the phone is being charged) or they will light up in a sequential pattern depending on the energy level of the case (imagine the case is above 25% charge – or one light illuminates on the case when you turn the battery case – the other three lights will appear in order, going from one light illuminated to two lights to three lights to all four lights before starting over again at one light while the case charges). At night, this had the potential to be very annoying, however the dimmer lights make the charging animation from the case much more bearable in low light environments – and you can still see it during the day just fine, so there is no downside to this change over the previous generation case. Another thing to note is how the case charges: if your iPhone is at say 20% and the case is at 75%, when plugging in the case to charge, it will first charge the iPhone; only then, once the iPhone is full, it will charge the case. This means that your phone will need to be charged to 100% before the case will begin charging from 75% to 100%, for example. With that said, I never felt like the case took a long time to charge either – imagine just charging your iPhone two and a half times – that’s how long it took to charge both the case and the iPhone from dead to 100%. I was able to could charge both my dead iPhone and the case with no battery left from 0% to 100% in less than six hours. Conclusion:The case is a solid 5/5 stars in my opinion. It does the job, and does it well, and has some nice features like the Lightning port for data syncing/music/charging and the LED light indicators on the back. I’m sure there are other good battery cases out there, but for the money, you can’t beat this one.

A great, low cost battery case that functions as described.
I have been researching portable battery cases for the last two months now. When I found the Swaller Battery Case for iPhone 8/7, 4500mAh Charging Case Charger Case at such a reasonable price, I thought I would give it a try..The case was delivered in just two days and was packaged in a study, attractive box. I was immediately impressed. Upon removing the case, I was taken back with the soft, comfortable feel of the case. The case is soft and smooth, however, is not slippery. In the last week I have used my phone, the case has been exposed to water but even when wet, it did not slip out of my hand.I was also impressed with the interior of the case, as it has been designed to prevent scratches to your phone, in addition to an warranty card inside the box that allows you to register the product online to receive 18 months of repair and replacement coverage for free. (This is six months longer than any other case I found online!) I found a second card inside the box that provided a website (bc.needhelps.net) in the event I had any questions or concerns. I sent a question, expecting to receive an email in a week or two if lucky, but once again, to my surprise, I had a response back to my question in less than three hours. Needless to say, I was impressed.Actual response I received back:Hello Thank your feedback and I am very happy to solve your question. This product will charge your phone first when you connect the original charger, and then charge the battery case. Press the power button on the battery case for 1 second, and the indicator light flashes to indicate that the battery is low. Press the power button for one second. If the four indicator lights are on and there is no flash, it is fully charged.I am here to solve your problem.Best wishes. Now for the performance of the product. I use my phone for work related purposes on weekends to take photos, answer questions and upload information to the cloud. Normally I have to charge my phone battery twice to get through a 12 hour day. The first day I used the case I brought my charging cord with as I was unsure how the product would perform. I was able to make it through my entire day on an initial charge and one recharge from the case. I did not charge my phone for the next day and continued to use the case to charge my phone. I was able to get 24 hours of work logged on my phone with a full charge on the phone and a full charge on the case. In recent days, I have found that I when I am not using the applications my part time jobs require, I can go three days between charges. In short, I am thoroughly impressed with the Swaller Battery case and would recommend it to any and everyone. The only suggestion I would have for Swaller is to consider adding some basic instructions on how to operate the case so people would have that knowledge right out of the box..

Charge port leaves cord flopping around.
I like the battery life indicator lights and charging button. Unfortunately the charging port mechanism is very floppy... it will charge but the cord has to be still (I’ve tried numerous cords,!including my OEM Apple cord). I’m not sure if the internal mechanism is damaged or if thats just the design. I bought it so that I’d have the extra battery life for hiking with the gps on. I also find the rubber housing much slipperier than my protective otter box... it slides off the seat and out of my hand easier. The charging issue is the main reason for the three stars though.Update: on a positive note, the company’s CR was very reactive and stated they are sending me a replacement pending a review edit. I shall change the review to 4 stars.

Lithium Polymer battery swells and will no longer fit phone
I have had this case for less than six months. I was initially happy with the case when I bought it. But after a few months, the battery no longer provided nearly as much charge as advertised. The fully charged case would only charge my phone from 0% to about 50-60%. I started to notice that my phone was having issues with the touch screen. Like it was being touched when I wasn't touching it. Random gibberish texts being sent off to friends and family when I wasn't even using the phone. I pulled my phone out of the case and noticed that the battery inside the case was swelling. I had to look this up, but if you didn't know, swelling is an issue with lithium polymer batteries. It swelled so bad that I could no longer get the phone to fit in the case. I also believe this swelling was causing pressure on the back of my phone which explains the touchscreen issues I was having. If you are looking to damage your phone, and send random messages to your friends, this just might be the case for you. Otherwise, I would steer clear. I'm going back to Mophie.
