Shimano RD-M4000, 9-Speed, TOP-Normal, SGS, Shadow Design

This shadow style Shimano derailleur is shifting a 10 speed rear cassette with friction thumbies. This derailleur works very well with great accuracy and stays put once shifted. This derailleur replaced an old Suntour derailleur that couldn't handle the triple up front and the 11-32 on the rear. So far this derailleur has performed very will. The bicycle is a 1980's Nishiki Sebring 12 speed that now has modern aero wheels with 10 speed on the rear. Good product.

Surprisingly lightweight. Good value... it's lighter than the Deore blk. rd. i've been using. The shifting is just fine through the Alivio shifters and newly installed brk./shift cables. I ride this particular mtb on trails(dirt & gravel), road & bike paths. The perfect Shimano rear derailleur for these "everyday" conditions. Has not been tested in mountainous, trail jumping or other "heavy-duty" riding. For my usage grade A!

Good value, shifts well. Only when went to install had to buy new shift cable. Shadow derailleur mounts closer to wheel old cable not long enough

I haven’t installed this yet, but the one I received wasn’t new. It had been opened before. As far as I can tell all the parts are there so I’ll keep it, but not thrilled.

This derailleur is an amazing little mech. I installed it on my 1x7 and for the most part works great. Removing the old one and putting this was a breeze but in order for it to work with 7 speeds in the back you have to tune it. It shifts well and smooth but it is just a bit sluggish between cogs. The stiffness of the spring is good with no bouncing around when you take drops. Cant complain much since I'm adapting it to a 1x7 and is a 9 speed mech.

Replacement for Acera derailleur that was worn from use. Easy to install and adjust, shifts smoothly.
