Exciting and informative - and very emotional! Great book!
Martin Book understands the canine mind and he also has done his homework about the various ways dogs helped people during WW II. You can learn a lot about both dogs and their role in the war effort by reading this book. But, just as valuable, you will become lost in a very good story. I listened to the book on audio cassettes during a long commute and I found myself having a hard time waiting for the next trip to find out what happened next. The story is good and the characters really come alive, from the men who work with Jet to the folks on the sidelines. And, if you are like me, a dog lover, you will probably get very emotional about all the things Jet and her handlers go through, particularly at Dunkirk, when Jet and her handler have waded out into the English Channel, waiting to be picked up by rescue boats. The tide rises higher and higher, and Jet's handler holds her in his arms and then drapes her over his shoulders. And then the German planes arrive. Whew! Please read this book - you will not be sorry!

Great read, if you like stories about the war ...
Read this book in school (a long time ago) and spotted it again, so bought it! Very similar storyline to War Horse by Michael Morpergo, but this one is about a labrador in World War 2. Great read, if you like stories about the war and man's best friend!

Good insight into war
Good book for my 10 year old son who is learning about the war. He enjoyed it, although there will be obvious comparisons, because of the title, to War Horse.
