With a regular ball point pen, paper is thin enough to see letters through onto the back side, and to easily indent onto 2nd page.

I wanted to put something in a pinata that was not breakable but people of all ages (2-85) would still enjoy. All ages were happy to have these b/c they're a great size, they look nice and they are useful. They're perfect to keep notes or even draw pictures. Love them.

I was extremely disappointed in these notebooks. My expectations were pretty low; I was seeking this size in cheap, disposable notebooks. I did expect to be able to use them though. The pages are SO thin, you can't write on both sides because EVERYTHING shows through (regardless of pen type). They remind me of old school onion skin typewriter paper. Not only that, they are so delicate, they tear out VERY easily. They aren't worth half of this low price.
