You're getting what you're paying for
[Summery at the bottom]First things first, lets clear the air (pun not intended) about this product. This is NOT an air conditioner, it's mechanism is not even remotely similar, However; I was aware of this before buying it. what this product actually is, is an Air Humidifier. This product works by flowing air and spraying a mist of water which can aid in cooling a person down, provided that the water is not room temperature.Now I have cleared up what this product is I am able to review it properly. starting of with the packing. the box the product came in is a small box barely bigger than the product meaning less recyclable waste. this box has got some colour fading leading me to believe this product has been sat on a shelf for some time. the product is layered with anti scratch plastic and wrapped in bubble wrap making it a snug fit into the box. overall good packing.The product on the other hand is made from cheep plastic, has a very flimsy build quality and parts easily break apart such as the flap where you pour the water into. going off the price I payed for this item, I was not expecting anything more. I was however; expecting to be able to plug the product in. the power connector at the back of the product is similar to the old power connection on an old Nokia phone with one major difference. Nokia managed to aline the pin with the hole so you can plug the power cable into the phone where as this product has manage to miss aline the power connector with the hole in the housing. to combat this I will have to dismantle the product in order to re-aline the hole (if at all possible). for now I am able to jam the cable in on a very steep angle, which is potentially causing more harm then good, but it does allow to to test the product... sometimes...you are able to see some of the mist that this little device throws out and it can move a decent amount of air, unfortunately the hot temperature has left the UK by the time i got this product so I am unable to inform you of how well this product works but I will be taking it to France, so you may get an update. The filter that is supplied with the product is below par. because this being an humidifier they have had to allow gaps between the filter so the water spray can pass, meaning the filter is completely useless as any dust will simply fly past the filter cloth because they are parallel to the direction of wind. these filters will do a better job turning the turbulent air from the fan into a more laminar flow but other than that, I don't see them being useful. The fan speed displays there are 3 modes, and you just like I would assume, Slow, Medium, Fast. or at least reverse order... the fan setting seam to be, Medium, Fast, then slow!? which whilst does not inhibit the use of the product... is confusing why they are not in a typical order.Summery:the product is not an air conditioner, its an air humidifier and will not achieve the same effect as an air conditioner.The packing of the product is mostly recyclable, snug and is sufficient to protect the product but the colour distortion on the box leads me to believe these products are old and have been sat on a self for some years.As expected the material quality is below par, using flimsy plastic & loose fitting parts; however the quality assurance in near or is non existent as it's not possible to correctly power the product due to the power connector not being alined with the hole (self repair needs to be done to correct this.)Overall, I would say that the product is bad and would not recommend it to persons purely based on the fact you can plug it in without doing your own repair on the product. but I am intrigued to see if this is actually able to perform a cooling effect when in hot temperatures and inside a tent. if the product was able to be plug in out of the box with not maintenance required it may have received and extra star and simply put got the money's worth but as I am paying for a product i would at least expect it to be in a working condition.
