Nowhere near 3A output
I am testing with 12vdc input and 5.2vdc output into an adjustable load set for 2.2A. At first it was good at the required settings but as things started getting hot the current limiting kicked in at the 90-seconds mark. This dropped the voltage to 4.67vdc and current to 1.14A. The LM2596 was getting very hot and the other unmarked-black thing (I assume an inductor) were both at 80-C and still rising so I quit.I let it all cool down and start again and it was good at 5.2vdc and 2.2A when it all started up. But once again as things got hot, it began limiting again. That might be a good protective thing, but not when you want 2.2A. :)While the LM2596 is rated to 3A max, it seems the rest of the circuit is not, so the current limiting kicks in. Maybe some heatsinks would help. At 7-bucks for 6, I'll keep them, but they will not do the constant 5.2vdc at 2.2A that I need. I need to find something else.
