Hurricane Kit

Great little lantern for under $20.00
For the price, it's a great lantern. Solid build quality. Light weight, compact, innovative. For a few feet around the lantern it's extremely bright, then the intensity bleeds off from there. It would most certainly light up a tent. My wife brought it into a dimly lit room to do some sewing work and it lit the table area very well. I also like the ability to collapse the lantern for a soft glow light. Considering it lasts for quite a long time on 4AA batteries, this one's a win. Very happy with this purchase. As for the few negative reviews - I don't know why anyone would expect this lantern to light up an entire room like you had 3 floor lamps in it, be submersible under water, or survive the apocalypse. It's just not designed to do that. Go spend $100 on something that will meet your needs. Stop leaving reviews on lower priced products where you spent $15 but expect the performance of a much more expensive product. It just makes you look silly.

Great lantern!
I LOVE this lantern. Our power has been off twice since I ordered it and it is so light that I was able to hang it on our living room ceiling fan and have the brightness that we needed. I also love the fact that you can brighten the light by pulling up on the handles or dim by pushing it back down in. This feature makes it easy on the eyes - no being blinded when looking toward the light. Would buy again!

Pros: Very nice! Very bright! Fast delivery! Perfect size for what I wanted. Puts out more light than the online photos indicate. I'm very happy with my purchase.Cons: Requires a lot of batteries (4 AA). I would prefer a more modern battery with a longer life. In the same vein, as others have said, dimming the light by hiding it inside a translucent sleeve does nothing to conserve battery life. Better to use a dimmer switch.Overall: Considering the excellent size and brightness and the very affordable price, I recommend this little lantern for camping, picnicking and power outages. Just use the money you save to purchase extra AA batteries.

Solid purchase.
Bought this for backpacking this summer. This thing puts out some bright light. It illuminates my whole bedroom when not even pulled open. It doesn't have a high and low setting so it drains the batteries at a constant rate. That is a definite con. And it takes 4 AA's which can make it a bit heavier for serious backpacking. Not to mention spare batteries. We'll see how long the batteries last and I'll make my final decision upon that. Seems to be a great purchase and it will do it's job for my week long trip.

Light dimming and cutting out.
Light is bright. The dimming of lantern is by sliding the cover. Not a dimmer switch which would have been more efficient with battery life.My issue with the lantern is that after using it for two weeks straight the light is starting to flicker...dim and return...cut out. I change batteries of same brand so batteries should not be an issue. Batteries and contacts look good.This lantern should not be acting up after two weeks.Unacceptable.

Little light but very very bright!!!
This little light is really bright. I bought it to have in my car in case of a emergency.Nice size for this purpose. Easy to store. Great price. I'm very happy I bought this little bright light.

Great light but not sure it's waterproof/ resistant
This a great and sturdy light that is plenty bright. The four stars is because I am not so sure this thing is truly waterproof or even water resistant. Even though it's advertised as great camping light. If you need a light in the woods why carry 2 with one being weather proof and one for your tent. Why not cut back on space and weight and spend a few extra dollars for a single lantern that does both. As for me, I'll keep this light at home ( because it's tough and bright) and keep searching for a better camping/ hiking light that is bright, tough, AND weatherproof
