MoMA Highlights: 350 Works from The Museum of Modern Art, New York: Revised Edition 2013

I used this to explain much of modern art history to my ten year old before a trip to MOMA. This was extremely helpful, especially when used with Understanding Modern Art (An Usborne Introduction) by Cook, J. (Cook's book was excellent, and a good place to start) and What Are You Looking At?: The Surprising, Shocking, and Sometimes Strange Story of 150 Years of Modern Art by Gompertz and ...isms: Understanding Modern Art ... by Sam Phillips. These three books can be very helpful and made our trip to MOMA very successful and enjoyable.

Great for teens who are on their way to NYC. Short enough descriptions to get through the book without needing an art degree.

Handy guide to the works at MOMA (about 6in X 3.5in)...great color reproductions, nice brief commentaries. Would make both a great guide and a lovely keepsake if you plan on visiting...and if you don't, wonderful visual reproductions to enjoy anyway!

This is the sort of thing you pickup a museums etc - basically a catalogue of exhibits. We were recently in MOMA and I was pissed off as at MOMA this book cost almost double that of the same book translated into several other languages, hence I didn't buy it.It's a kind of useful/interesting little thing. Even now, maybe, the 'book' that never actually gets really read. Its woefully inadequate to me as it fails to include any entry for one of the Magrittes I saw and loved. But hell, MOMA is a money machine, dressed for the part.
