Shabby Chic Paperback – Illustrated, March 29, 2011

Lovely book and great condition.

Bought this as a gift for my creative, yet OCD, daughter. A woman with an eclectic eye but without the courage of her convictions. 30 days later, a bit of paint and fabric, she's been so inspired, our home is a cozy, stylish showplace.The book is absolutely beautiful. Our home isn't a copy of the amazing styles, but an expression of who we are as a family.This is the spark...I HIGHLY recommend.

I first read this book at my local public library and, after taking it out, oh, MANY times, decided to buy it. I've always liked Rachel Ashwell's decorating style, and since I live in an old (and, um, somewhat shabby) house, her style motif fits my lifestyle perfectly. All of a sudden, my mismatched china, old linens, chippy furniture and ancient ornaments are fashionable! This is one of those books that I can sit down with from time to time and enjoy the beautiful pictures. Together with "Romantic Prairie Style" and "A Bit of Velvet and a Dash of Lace", these are the decorating books that just make me feel happy.

I mistakenly thought the wrong book was sent because I think they may have changed the book cover at some point. I wasn't aware of that until a very short time ago. I do believe the right one was sent after all. This book has some good ideas for inspiration although I do like one of her other books a little better. I also like her slipcover instructions at the latter part-something I've been wanting for a long time. I just wanted to upgrade an earlier review.

I loved this book! If you like Shabby Chic, this book is full of beautiful ideas.

I like the book because I love anything from Rachael Ashwell. However, I was really looking for some beautiful pictures of her distressed decorating and this book doesn't have that. I did not find it that interesting but if you like her work you will get something out of it and it is worth the price.

Gorgeous photos. Filled with ideas to adopt and adapt. Glad to add this to my Shabby Chic collection.

Ashwell's first book, though the second one I bought. This is her earlier style - very light, very white, very feminine but sufficiently pared down to be tolerable for the average man. I loved this book and the looks inside it.

Ottimo prodotto, è ben leggibile dal kindle, peccato che non si possa aprire con altri supporti, questo ne limita l'utilizzo dato che il libro è totalmente in inglese!
