Honeymoon time and beyond
If It's For My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat A Demon Lord Vol 9Author: Chirolu ©Chirolu 2019Japanese publisher: Hobby JapanUS Publisher: J Novel ClubAvailable at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1718353081/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Spoilers ahead. The book is a mixture of side stories, past, present, and future. Chirolu does a good job with his world building, and minute descriptions of how things will be accomplished. We start out with newlyweds, Dale and Latina on their honeymoon journey to back home in Kreuz. Along the way, Dale makes a special stop in the town of Affe, known for it's hot springs. Not the usual “hot springs trope:” after all, the lucky couple are now man and wife. Being Latina, though, the story focuses on her passion for food, and, in particular, a certain type of mushroom only available just outside Affe. However, there is a monster that is ravaging the countryside, putting the very seasonal mushroom out of reach for the regional chefs, and Latina's palate, but it has also caused the village to close down the big, mixed bathing hot springs pool for fear the monster will harm people. Crushed, Latina is sad because she won't get to try those mushrooms. Dale is crushed because he won't be able to join his bride in that special hot springs, so he takes on the quest personally to find out what the monster is and exactly how to exterminate it. Moving Ahead, we see him first determine what the monster is, and then how he determines a way to eliminate it. After all, he's already defeated demon lords for his daughter, so eliminating a monster for his bride's happiness should be a piece of cake. Once they leave Affe, they return to Kreuz, where Latina returns to her bar-maid duties. When a stranger enters the Dancing Ocelot, Latina waits on him. The stranger sees Kenneth, and immediately recognizes him From Kenneth's days as an adventurer. From here, the story shifts from the present to 15 years earlier when a young boy/man joins Kenneth's party to learn how to become an adventurer: young Dale Tislow, before he assumed the name Reki. The young boy, with his hunter's training from the mountains of Tislow, begins to make a name for himself with Kenneth's group. The end up at a fishing village that doesn't have any seafood. The reason? A large monster has taken up residency near the port and the fisherman won't risk going out to sea. Dale tells Kenneth what the monster looks like, and Kenneth Identifies it properly: a rare sea dragon, not known for coming so close to human habitation. The party then plans how to handle the monster, asking only to harvest it's parts for their compensation: something the economically stricken community welcomes. This is only the first part of the story, establishing Kenneth as Dale's mentor. They pack up what they can of the monster's parts and decide that they'll have better luck selling it in Kreuz than in a major port city. Naturally, they end up at the Dancing Ocelot while Dale made a side trip to mail his share of the dragon parts back to Tislow. Arriving at the Ocelot, he noticed Kenneth acting unusual, having “hit on” the young, pretty, barmaid, only to feel the sting of her hand on his face. From there onward, we see the tsundere romance of the adventurer and the barmaid. Every time Kenneth leaves the bar, he says, “Well, then, I'll see you later, Rita,” which she always replies, “I hope you don't!” Kenneth is treating this problem with strategy, and we learn how Sylvester fits into the story of the Ocelot and becomes instrumental in the future of the young couple. By this point, Rita has gone full tsundere, not wanting to show interest in the tall, strong, gentlemanly adventurer. Gentlemanly? Well the first time they met, Kenneth knew what he wanted and what he wanted was to marry this young woman that worked in her parents bar/inn. As this is no spoiler, we know they got married. After all, that's how they were introduced in Vol 1 of both the Light Novel and the Manga, as well as the first episode of the anime. After months of basically telling Kenneth she wished he'd die, the thought of it occurring brought her around.A short chapter follows about Chrysos planning a visit to Kreuz, and how Latina's childhood friend, Sylvia, is pressed into service to choose what the Golden King will wear. For some reason, even for going incognito, a cat ear hood to hide her horns wasn't considered appropriate for the ruler of Vassilios. This story is told as it happened, although it occurred before Dale and Latina's marriage.Another story told in the same manner was the time Kenneth and Dale took Latina to a farm to see the animals that would later be butchered and eaten. Kenneth made this trip to find out just why the meat from that farm was such a higher quality than what he had been getting. The main part of the story was Latina getting lost while chasing after a wild rabbit. After all, she always loved animals. A missing Latina was worrisome enough for Kenneth, but with Dale along, you need to see how things turned out and how, long before he defeated a demon king, he was mistaken for one himself.Closing out the book, Latina's at work at the Ocelot. A drunk tries to hit on her, which she calmly avoids. The regulars are glad she's back and working, but Kenneth no longer own the Dancing Ocelot: Theo has stepped up to that position. Yes, this is a move into the future as this will be the last day Latina works there. Dale has been granted land and a title and is away working with his people to build the new town. Fortunately, his earth magic saves a lot of strained backs in a land without bulldozers. The story closes out with the young/old married couple heading down the road to their new home, away from Kreuz. Dale is starting to understand that the blessing of a long life can also be a curse as he thinks of families and friends no longer around. It's mentioned that Kenneth still is, but no mention of Rita or any of Latina's childhood friends. Is this the ending of Latina's stories? While it could be, the way Chirolu has written the full saga, more could come. Like this, it could be a story of various timelines, but I think next time, it would be good to just focus on Dale and Latina's story as they build their new town, especially since it was stated that she and Dale would adopt a passel of war orphans and train them to work in the hospitality industry. With centuries to do this, I'm certain that there are more compelling stories ahead. I sure hope so!A lot of people over the years have complained about the marriage aspect of the series, especially as it sounds to them like Dale was grooming Latina to be his future sex slave. Latina never wavered from her devotion towards him, including making him her servant, guaranteeing him a long life. Blessing because he'll be with his beloved Latina for centuries, and after a few of those, the fact he was born a decade before her won't matter in the least.

Wonderful Continuation
Again, book 3 did not disappoint. I love that the storyline advanced 4 years. Latina has grown in beauty and poise but still at a loss on how to handle Dale. Dale still thinks of Latina as his little princess even when those around Latina are aware of her growth going towards adulthood. Can't wait to read book 4.

Stuff happen
Well what did you expect from a slice of life story there is no plot right now but things happen like Latina trying makeup for the first time, going to the festival with friends for the first time. But before that we meet a new character who was captured by Bandits and met the Second demon Lord. So if you like this series you will like this volume not a whole lot has changed but the stuff that has is very engaging.

Unexpected details about Latina.
It's great start into coming change of Latina and Dale's relationship. We get to meet Latina's mother Mov for the first time as she acompanies second demon lord trying to keep Latina safe. Volume ends with Latina trying to confess her feelings to Dale but she fails and Volume 4 continues on.

It was great.
This is a review for the *LIGHT NOVEL* volume 3. Amazon gets light novel and manga reviews mixed up. In case this gets mixed up for the reviews of the manga. Manga readers don't read this.I liked this volume, like the first two. Though I feel like the author has moments were pacing can feel a little too fast.***SPOILERS, REALLY YOU ARE BEING WARNED***Before reading this series. I knew how Latina and Dale would end up. So that part doesn't bother me. However. I felt like the sudden change, was a little too fast of pace. Well I believe it was because of the time skip. But how it sudden got changed to romance felt too sudden. I wished the author would've wrote more about the development of Latina's feelings. The characters in the novels thought "Wow her feelings were so obvious, Dale was just dense the whole time." It felt a little forced. I wouldn't think it was that obvious.... There were hints, but like even knowing when it would happen. It still surprised me how sudden it was.

Shocking and Interesting
The reason why I chose this it's because it seems to be very unique considering how I left off in the anime. To see little girl growing up becoming more of a mature woman is very surprising considering how you first met her. Not to mention, it starts getting into more dramatic situations that really hit on point considering things been going so far in the series. Also Brings new light with coach of development as well.

Starts nice but may promote complicated ideas in a shallow way
The emotional elements and ridiculous behaviour of Latina's fans are always good. Also like the introduction of new characters. What I don't like are the shalow world and side characters development/characterization.And a thaught that put me off of this story popped into my head. Call me naive, but it took me till this volume to confirm that this is idealized version of grooming your future child bride. Perhaps this is how the men of cultures that accept these kinds of mariages justify it to themselves, that after protecting and teaching them, the girls will want it themselves.

Yay
It's good like the others so far, I like that you are seeing progression I'm Latina's character and how she is trying her hardest to express her feelings of how she feels to Dale. I just wish Dale wasn't so dense and actually made an effort to actually understand Latina truly.4.1

A solid entry for a great series.
I picked this series up after the anime left of, and this is where I started. It's a really good series, and this is the best starting off point after the anime, but this one was a bit of a slow read. It definitely gets better from here though, and I still think it was a good book to start off with. From here I finished the series in a week.

Carina ma...
Carina dal volume 1 al vol. 5 incluso. Peccato.
