Miles Davis Omnibook: For Bb Instruments

This book is great. The collection of music here is great. All of them are favorites/classics. The transcriptions are accurate. There's a lifetime of study here. I use this for guitar. I like the B flat version because I can put heavier strings on for better tone and just tune down a whole step to play in the proper key. Perfect.

These selections are beyond me for playing now; old lips, slow fingers, but it's interesting to follow along when I play the CDs or Lps (yup, still have the records).

The notes are easy to read because of the size of the notes. There are a plethora of pieces to play. I believe that the compositions in this book will improve my ability to play my horn.

I bought this book for my young son who is a remarkable jazz trumpet player for his age. This omnibook of Miles Davis heads and solos is a terrific source for practicing and developing one's jazz chops..

Great book with some great transcriptions. I like that the author chooses music spanning Miles' entire career (except for maybe the jazz fusion years).

Its about time this book came out, and its also about time it came out in Bb. Why a book of trumpet solos was only initially released in concert key is beyond me - tons (50) of tunes, including the heads, w/ songs spanning all eras, transcribed w/ Miles' inflections, as well as the solos - this book is awesome !

If you like Miles and you want to play his solos verbatim this is the book for you.

Good book

A question you might want answered is "do you have to be a genius to use this book?". The answer is "no". I can just about struggle my way through a few tunes in "Easy Winners" and I can play quite big chunks out of this. I can also follow the notation while I listen to the records. Way cool!
