Food Grade?
Worked but I bought this specifically as a "food grade" adhesive. The tube says nothing about food. Used it anyway. Hope I don't die.

FDA STATUSThe following one-part RTV silicone rubber compounds may be used in repeated contact with foods under FDA regulation 21CFR177.2600 “Rubber Articles Intended for Repeated Use” (and, by reference, 21CFR175.300 “Resins and Polymeric Coatings”).The Use of these Sealants is Subject to the Following Conditions: The sealant must be applied in accordance with good manufacturing practices at a thickness not to exceed 6mm (1/4”) from an exposed edge, and as a continuous film between joints acting as a functional barrier between the food and the substrate (the area underneath the joint). The sealant must be cured for a minimum of 14 days at 25°C (77°F) and 50% RH. The sealant must be thoroughly cleansed before the first use.The sealant, when properly cured, must comply with the extractives limitations at temperatures up to and including reflux applications. I am giving this 5 starts even though I'm disappointed, and here's why.
This product is a convenient size of a good amount so you don't feel ripped off only getting 2-3 uses out of it like those tiny tubes of glue, or even the medium ones. It is easy to use, and is perfectly crystal clear. As a product, there is nothing wrong with it and it does what it should. If I had been sealing a crack or edging around something (motor, counter, etc.) I could have just squeezed the beaded line and be done with it, and it would look nice.My disappointment was my skill, and my lack of experience in working with liquid silicone. I purchased this to solve a problem I have had for a long time with various sized glass jars that I love, but have metal lids without seals. I use them for various foods and treats. They are NOT canning jars, so I cannot find all the various sized seals anywhere or with the appropriate thinness so that the lid will still screw on, so I wanted to run a bead of this silicon along the inside edge of the lids, and smoothly flatten it down to look like those that are already manufactured that way. It was rather hard to hold a steady hand while applying enough pressure to the tube to keep a continuous flow because the tube's outer material is stiffer and hard to press. Also, it could not be smoothed down flat nicely like I thought it could. I'm sure there is a skill and trick to doing that but I am unaware of it. In the end, my lids look junky, bumpy, uneven, and like something gross is around the edge of the lid. LOL Well, it at least worked, but not in the way I wanted it too. one larger lid of 4" diameter looked a bit nicer, but still rugged and rough flattened. I won't be doing the rest of the lids this way. I WILL be saving this and using it in other areas of my house needing this kind of sealant. Or maybe I'll do what I saw on a YouTube vid where they squeezed a ball onto non stick paper, placed another sheet over it, and pressed with something even and heavy, like a pane of glass - forming a beautifully perfect round seal about 1/16" thick (could be thicker with less pressure.)Still 5 stars because I'm sure it's me and not them.

Oops, not - Excellent, especially if you need something for repairing cooking gear!
Downgraded my rating.... The repair didn't hold and then the cap fell apart! Silco wouldn't provide a new cap... Works! I repaired a Tfal electric kettle that had a small leak in the water level window so needed high temp and USDA <FDA> cert. Cleaned off the calcium, did a quick wipe with a q tip dampened with acetone and a thin smear inside and out of this stuff and I was back to a dry counter the next day. I boiled and dumped a couple of pots of water just to make sure to get rid of any residue and outgassing.

Use right away
Bought this product in January, never opened. 7 months later the product was cured inside unopened tube. Not sure if it came hat way but there are no holes in package. Use right away

Suspected of Damaging Fertility!
I bought this hoping to patch a hole in my wife's favorite pitcher. I searched food safe silicone, and found this. I looked up and down on the product information and everything checked out. However, they left out that little warning. As we're approaching that stage of our lives this just isn't acceptable. Normally I'd return it, but it costs almost as much to return as I paid so why bother. I'm sure it does its job well but I have no use for it due to the hazard they swept under the carpet.

This stuff does it's job. Great silicone gaskets.
This product does exactly what it's meant to do. I was able to create a number of almost airtight gaskets for a hose-filtration system (enough to get suction but not perfect, as one would expect) with plenty of silicone to spare. It doesn't get much better. this stuff cures completely in under 24 hours so you can get back to your project quickly and easily with the product you need. It can get a bit messy when trying to get the exact shape you want if you are doing anything more difficult than a straight line, but that is to be expected with any gel-like product you use. All and all I could finish my product without a hitch and feel comfortable and confident with my decision to use this product.

WARNING - This is NOT a clear adhesive!
It is SILVER, not clear as stated on the Amazon site. I used for one application that didn't really matter, we'll see how it works - but I cannot use to seal a glass bottom tankard, as I intended...
