It's a nice woodcarving book but wasn't really what I was wanting. Maybe a little too simple for me.

My grandson will be getting a wood carving set for Christmas. He is a beginner. He needs a book that is simple and has step by step easy instructions. This book states "easy" but it is not. After looking it over, I feel it is more for an experienced person. I am returning this book but may order it later if he continues to wood carve.

I have purchased a number of carving books over the last six months and this is hands down the most informative and best step by step manual I’ve received. Author make this so easy to understand about tool selection and techniques for a novice and a more experienced carver.

OK for a (coffee table) book.

This book is perfect for someone that wants to learn to carve. The detailed information is wonderful. All projects are step by step with pictures on how to achieve what you are trying to learn. She goes over knife selection, wood selection and much more. I would highly recommend the book to anyone who is interested in learning to carve!!!

I have been whittling / carving since I was a kid but I never took it seriously. Now that I am doing it as a hobby, I needed a guide to do it the right way. This book has helped me a lot.

Great book, lots of great ideas and tips.

I would not advise anyone interested in Wood Carving to buy this book.The patterns for the major projects are out of scale and the author advise people who are new to Carving not to learn to sharpen their tools!Sharpening tools is a essential part of Carving and a skill the novice Wood Carver will not get far with out.
