No mar, but no grip either.
I do chainmaille and metalwork. I bought these pliers specifically for small gauge (20 G or smaller) chainmaille work. These pliers are very light. They weigh much less than my American made pliers that were a bit less money but also good quality. The grip length is fine but I would like it a little longer. My hands are average to petite female sized. The spring-back is delicate and consistent, which is important when working with very small rings. The handles are comfortable. My only problem with these is that the grip of the tips is too slippery. I grab a ring and try to close it, and the tips slide. The finish is matte like my other pliers, but for whatever reason, it slides far too much. When little rings go flying off into the wild wind, the pliers are not finished right. I have been using them for about 2 weeks and am still not sure if I'll send them back: I do like the lightness and the spring mechanism, but if I can't figure out how to keep the metal from sliding, then they are not worth it.

Watch the black plastic "spring" !!
They work great But, you know that little plastic "spring" that is suppose to keep the pliers open? Well it doesn't! What happens is the black plastic piece is always coming free from the detent. Most of my other pliers have a metal "spring" connected at the jaws which works flawlessly. I'll probably just supper glue the piece in.

the right Rx for perfect tools
When I started designing jewelry a few years I also started a collection of jewelry making tools. Having severe arthritis and some limitations due to joint replacements in my hands means that my tools need to be especially well designed as far as function and ergonomics in order not only to work well, but to avoid pain and fatigue in my hands. The Lindstrom Rx line has many different choices to fill just about every jewelry making need; because I have found their quality is second to none, they are the only brand of tools I own. These short chain nose pliers are an excellent size and have a responsively springy grip. The handles themselves are firm but have a very slight "give" to the texture of them - not padded or spongy but just enough give that they don't feel like hard plastic. They don't slip at all in the hand and the secure grip helps me to work faster and more precisely. The little device running across the middle that looks sort of like a wavy thread, that is the adjustment mechanism by which you can choose from several levels the grip that suits you best. The plier tips are precise and well finished. This is an incredibly well designed tool which should give a lifetime of service. Pleased with this purchase and highly recommended.
