A GREAT READ with luscious recipes
I was so happy tp received my copies of the Book in the post last Friday. And today, had a chance to browse and start reading through this Book. Have quite a few Filipino Food cookbook collection and this is one of the few books. That once you start reading it, you can’t stop reading through the stories of fellow countrymen. Just like the author said, Filipino food is NOT easy to describe and I had been in that situation before. It’s a nice way of introducing folks about our cuisine thru stories and their recipes.+photos look so delectable That you’d want to try it right away+recipes are easy to follow and it gives you alternative ingredients to use+folks Who are not familiar with Filipino Food can easily follow and make the recipes in this BookHighly recommended and Its really Nice to give-away as gift.

Not Just Your Regular Cookbook!
I don’t normally seek a cookbook to learn how to cook a dish. I would rather scout the internet or ask my friends for a recipe. But The New Filipino Kitchen is a book worth reading. It is not just a cookbook but a collection of stories from Filipinos around the world surrounding their favorite Filipino dish. The recipes are just icing on the cake. I would recommend this book to everybody. It will also be a great holiday present to very close friends. Can’t wait to try some of the dishes especially the Habichuelas! Congratulations, Jac and all the contributors of this wonderful book!

Love this! Good read, Great Food! Must have!
iI purchased this cookbook primary by word of mouth...that this cookbook is really really good. Got my kindle version mainly because of instant gratification, curiosity. Never did I expect a cookbook would make me tearful and emotional. Oh those stories, so personal, sincere and heartwarming. It takes you on a journey with them... every recipe generously shared to us holding special personal memories tied in from each contributor’s story, such a treat! All I can say is GET IT! The short stories in itself is such a good read. The recipes... YUM!

Nostalgic, touching, & informative
Received this last week, not quite done reading yet, but am loving it! What a lovely & refreshing book! Each recipe is accompanied by the author’s story- often nostalgic, often funny & sweet. I’ve cried at a few of them too, remembering my childhood in the Philippines. There are some familiar dishes, but some I’ve never heard of either. It’s going to be fun figuring out which ones to try to make first.

More memoir than cookbook.
If you are looking for a cookbook with new takes on Filipino recipes this is not it. Three quarters of the book is devoted to personal stories with maybe a single recipe at the end. It is a beautifully laid out book and the photos are a nice touch but its not going to satisfy those looking got a Filipino cookbook.

More than just a typical cookbook! Wonderful stories!
I gave this as a Christmas gift to my former boss. She absolutely loved the stories entwined within the recipes. She also commented that the recipes are simple enough for anyone to follow. This is more than just a cookbook. It is a wonderful collection of stories behind the recipes highlighting the Filipino heritage.

Good recipes
Good recipes, but like 3 to 4 pages of life stories about the recipe creator for every page of the recipe.

A beautiful book
This is both a great read and reference. It has a great collection of recipes. But it goes well beyond that. It’s a wonderful curl-up-in-a-comfy-chair-and-feel book that gives you almost the same warmth and emotions as spending time with family and friends. The pages contain so much generosity as it shares not just recipes but very personal stories.

Well written particulalry suitable for overseas Filipinos looking for a taste of home and more importantly an appreciation for a common Filipino story.
