Syontix Inulin FructoOligoSaccharide (FOS) powder provides the soluble fibers that promote gut health. Friendly bacteria in the large intestine ferment soluble fibers into the short chain fatty acids butyrate, acetate and propionate. These short chain fatty acids promote the integrity of the colon and have other favorable effects. Orafti HP* Inulin delivers the highest quality short-chain and long-chain saccharides on the market. *Orafti is a registered trademark of BeneOrafti. No gluten, soybeans, dairy, egg, fish/shellfish, peanuts or tree nuts. Suitable for vegetarians/vegans.

One Month In
I've been taking this daily for a month. I take it as soon as I wake up with about 4-6 ounces of water, about 20 minutes before I eat my morning breakfast.I noticed a tremendous difference within 3 days of starting this product. It was a pleasant, productive change in my schedule, not jarring our surprising. If you're taking Probiotics and you want something to supplement, this is the product you need to take. It's great! I'm a month in taking this once every morning and I wouldn't be surprised if this tub will last me 3 months or more. I don't feel like I've made a dent in the powder yet.I take the same brand in probiotics - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0087Q8GZA/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2Powder is tasteless. I take other supplements for my weight training (which doesn't help my gut health) and some of the powders are simply disgusting. This stuff is honestly tasteless, you can put it in anything, I just use water. The only downside is that I need to pour this powder in WHILE stirring, otherwise it will clump. If you like to dump and stir, you'll be frustrated at the clumps that result in your beverage.

Almost symptom free/review updated
Review update: 05/14/13. I have upgraded my review from 2 stars to 4. Initially, there were grievances regarding the difficulty dissolving the product due to a labeling error. If you read the review comments, you will see that the product owner provided necessary instructions that completely resolved the issue. I went back to using the product with a good probiotic and my symptoms are resolving. Although a disagreement initially occurred with the owner, I was more than impressed with his desire to make things right. After viewing his website and blog, I'm convinced he is passionate about his products and appears very knowledgeable. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his products.Previous review to avoid confusion, as follows:After a life altering experience, that resulted in the return of IBS that hasn't visited me in years, I knew I needed to take action before my immune system was irreversibly shot.I opted for the best probiotic I could find and threw in a prebiotic, too, because I wanted desperately to get control of my negative symptoms as soon as possible. As an RN, I know the importance of healthy intestinal functioning.Honestly, I really can't tell much difference in adding the prebiotic to the probiotic regimen. I'm starting to feel better, but suspect this might have been true with the probiotic, alone, with diet/stress modification and the addition of some dietary soluble fiber. But, if you rarely eat such foods, adding a prebiotic would definitely be a shortcut. We do want to nourish the good bacteria residing in the colon. The thing I found most objectionable with this product, is the inability for it to dissolve. Unless you throw the powder in a blender, you will be gulping down globs of the stuff, no matter how fast you start stirring. This is not pleasant and wasteful. I can hardly dig out, the settled product in the bottom of the cup. I swear it's like quick-set, cement.

hard to mix it into liquid
Have to be very careful mixing it so I much prefer the Prebiotin brand that contains FOS as well. That is also tasty and dissolves well. I won't order this again for these reasons.

Clumps regardless of what I put it in.
I have been very successfully using Phillip's Colon Health Probiotic + Fiber Powder but unfortunately the product was discontinued forcing me to try other products. I chose Synotix Inulin based on consumer reviews and am sure positive reviews were due to varied reasons for using the product in the first place. Yes, I realize one is a probiotic and one is a prebiotic. What I'm attempting to do is find one or the other that is a tasteless powder (not pill), completely dissolves, and actually works.I have a long history of GI problems which causes my weight to continuously fluxuate from 135-140 lbs every week without fail. The pain associated with my problems is so extreme that it is not uncommon for me to eat little to nothing for a couple days at a time just to avoid the pain and give the swelling a chance to recede. Extensive blood work has been unable to pinpoint the cause of my problems but the Phillip's Colon Health Probiotic + Fiber Powder seemed to be resolving much of the pain, pressure and swelling. I wish I could say the same of Syontix Inulin Prebiotic Powder. I didn't matter if I added it to hot coffee in the morning, cold iced tea or room temperature water throughout the day, it clumps. 1 Star - "I hated it" and will never buy it again at any price. :/

Actually works, highly recommended
(I posted essentially the same review for the Syontix probiotics.)My wife and I have tried numerous probiotics over the last three years. This one actually works, especially in conjunction with the Syontix probiotics ( Syontix Probiotics Ultra, 60 Tablets Per Bottle ).The theory is that the prebiotic provides a lot of food that helps your good gut bacteria thrive, so they can crowd out the ones you don't want. The probiotic gives you an ongoing supply of good bacteria that use the pre-biotic.Most probiotics don't do anything at all -- it is like you never took them. This combination has definite and immediate results. First thing in the morning, 45 minutes before breakfast, we take 1 scoop of the prebiotic together with one of the probiotics. Within 24 hours of switching to this brand, I started having regular, easy stools and recognizing when I needed to go. I also started passing some ordorless gas, presumably from the prebiotics. After almost 4 weeks, there is less and less gas, and I expect it to subside completely as my gut bacteria finish shifting to better varieties. The only other probiotic we've used in the last 3 years that had an actual effect was from Body Biotics ( Body Biotics 90 Caps ), but they are much more expensive and I had to take 5 of them per day to get the same effect as from one of the Syontix, so they end up costing about 6 times what the Syontix cost.Highly recommended combination!
