Lightspeed Outdoors XL Sport Shelter Instant Pop Up | Portable Easy Setup Extra Large Shelter

We've ordered a variety of beach shelters that were too small, too hard to put up, or just poor quality. But the Lightspeed Outdoors Pop-up Sport Shelter was a real joy to use. It's large enough for two full height chairs or loungers and some beach bags. It was very stable in moderate wind (with the chairs in place), provided good shade and had excellent air circulation.It was really a joy to put up and take down, although it does require a taller person (I would say 6' or taller) to erect it properly. The challenge is that the plastic hub on top has to go straight into an opening to hold the structure in place and it's above the height that can be seen. The 5'10" person who put it up for us had trouble getting it aligned so it could go straight down into the opening. (It might be worth trying to hold the structure sideways with its opening facing the ground and then putting it upright after the hub is in place.) Pulling the hub up to put the structure down seemed to be easier, since you don't have to aim for the opening that you can't see. Folding it to put it away is a real breeze. It's much like putting down an umbrella, because the stabilizing pieces fold up together and then it's a simple to roll the fabric around them and put it in the carry bag. Unlike many shelters, there are no rods to try to thread through small openings; it's all connected already. It's also easy to carry.I've attached a photo that shows the Lightspeed set up next to a Sportbrella so you can compare the two. Note that the Lightspeed easily accommodates two full size zero gravity chairs, two adults and several children.Update: Three years later and I’m still very happy with this beach shelter. It really holds up and provides great shade and plenty of space.

The XL is much larger than the smaller versions, and that allows 2 actual adults in 2 real chairs to sit inside, with room to spare. Planty of head room when seated. So easy to set up. Definitely meets the definition of instant-setup. Especially compared to other brands of similar product that are not instant-setup or even close. Plan to use it at the beach to protect from sun. Got tired of wind blowing over my beach umbrella. Probably too large to fit in suitcase, except for a very large suitcase.Edit:Just finished using this large XL version for holiday at the beach. I have both the small one and this XL version. This report is for the XL.GOOD:I give the design team an A+ for the instant setup design. It is truly quick and easy, even for the XL. Can be done by one person only if the wind is not blowing.BAD:Absolutely requires 2 people to setup and take down if wind is blowing (like on the beach) around 8 to 10 mph or more. Frame is so flexible the whole thing just flops around in the wind and lays over. Very frustrating. One person has to hold shelter and second person can install tent stakes into the sand. If the wind is blowing, you must use the ropes and stakes. As compared to the small version which can function pretty well in wind without ropes and stakes.Advice to Manufacturer:The tent poles are fine for smaller version, but need to be a little thicker and stiffer for this larger XL version. Too much wind sail area for such large tent area. Keep up the good work.

Wasn't sure about this product based off of some of the reviews. Needless to say I am thrilled I purchased it. I am writing this review as I sit in my sport shelter! I wanted something to protect me from the sun and there is no sun today however lots of wind. I thought I would try setting this up in a pretty decent wind. Not quite sure what I was thinking but was wanting to get this thing out of my basement and finally use it after havin brought it to our beach trip. I set this up with little effort in a strong wind and by myself. One of the things that made this possible was that I purchased a set of four orange tent screws. I got the hub locked in place effortlessly and then screwed one corner of the tent down. I then screwed the other corner down and extended the cords to stabilize the top. I used the yellow stakes that came with the product for the other side of the tent and this worked quite nicely. I would recommend this product to anyone for a variety of outdoor conditions. This product was easy to handle even while blowing around.

Finally I got a good one. I had bad experience with other manufacture's product twice andreturned them and tried this one quite famous and popular. and yes it's quite good.Setting up and down very easily quickly.but it is HOT, keep well ventilated otherwise inside is hotter than ambient temperature.Material inside under almost direct sun light here in mid summer Houston TX, materialtemperature reaches about 130deg F. depends on sun, it hits higher.You feel hotter inside than out side because 130F material are all around you within a few feet andfacing to you in almost right angle. It's a good oven. Out side normally have a little breeze so,inside will feel hotter than out side.I have little kids, 1 y/o and 4 y/o, they like playing inside without caring how hot it is actually soI had to be careful when my little one fall a sleep inside with sweating and red faced.have to keep well ventilated then heat will gone easily (but when breeze stop, heat back quickly)and also drink water a lot.. so better set it up under the shade... (then no need this???)

I've used this already a few times at the beach and it's one of the best purchases we've made for a few reasons:1. Very roomy. With good height. Our family of 3 fits comfortably inside.2. Love the 3 vented walls. Nice and breezy inside when there's a light wind.3. Very easy set up and take down.4. Extra details such as the mesh pockets on top in the inside of tent to store keys, phones etc was a nice touch.At first I was worried it would be too big - but spending hours at the beach have made this purchase well worth it.

Awesome shelter. Really easy to put up and take down, and very light so not tough to carry. We use it for a women's soccer team - it is big enough for a 6' bench. 3 or 4 players can sit on the bench at the front of the shelter, and we can fit all of our gear in the back. The covers for the mesh windows have a small space in between the flap and mesh, so air flows through.

We just built it in the living room to try it out, and it is a breeze to both build it up or dismantle. We actually spent more time putting it back to the bag than actual installation.Yet to try it out on the beach and see how it withstands the winds.

Although it DOES set up and tear down quickly and easily it was TERRIBLE as a beach tent. It kept getting caught in the wind and getting blown away/collapsing while the other beach tents on the beach did not.It seemed like it would be only a matter of time before it broke. I returned it after one use.

This tent has been awesome! It is easy to set up and take down, and has protected us well in rain and wind! We usually sit 3 camping chairs inside, the space is good for what we need. We use it when the weather is undesirable when our kids play soccer.

Love the ease in which this shelter sets up, it literally is seconds! The only thing is that the fabric is pretty thin and after my second beach use it has a hole along the seam of the floor tarp and the side wall fabric. I will try to have it sewn shut and reinforced by a local industrial sewing company but wish it was stronger for the price tag ($120 cad on prime day).

This is awesome. It is easy to set up and take down and is lite to carry. It has come in sooo handy in providing shade at the splash park and beach.

Fantastic pop up tent. Easy to open and close. Love using this at the beach. Light but still sturdy and easy to transport.

I purchased this shelter for my husband for a Father"s Day gift, and he loves it. We do a lot of camping and it not only keeps us dry butit also works well as a wind break. No more need to wrestle to put up a tarp up . The shelter, pops up in seconds and we sit back and relax. :)
