Light informative read.
The drawings are divine, capturing the spirit of Dior's designs. The story is a little flimsy.Great for fans of fashion.

It's good to see her making an appearance in the English ...
I've long been a fan of Annie Goetzinger, ever since I read her La Sultane Blanche. The post war era, the 1950s and even the 1960s are where she really shines. She just loves the fashions of the era, and it shows. It's good to see her making an appearance in the English speaking world. Girl in Dior plays to her strength, her lively, personal illustrations and charming visual story telling style.

This is a graphic novel with beautiful artwork. The story is very simplistic but oh, the drawings of Dior's dresses! The story begins in 1947 when Dior has his first fashion show and ends with his death just 10 years later. Again, there isn't much to the story but I would love to have some of the art as prints for bedroom walls. I haven't read many graphic novels but if I find more like this, I'm hooked!

A change of pace from typical novels.
I liked the illustrations with the dialogue rather than reading the words that the illustrations replaced. Easy and short read.

Amazing graphic Novel! A must have!!
Annie's illustrations capture the very heart of Dior world. The story is great and fanciful and is the perfect gift for any who loves the history of Dior!!!

The illustrations are absolutely beautiful and the primary reason to check this out. Unfortunately, the story line is underdeveloped and provides only a very superficial look into Dior and his studio. Too much time is spent on the protagonist who isn't particularly interesting and feels very much like a passenger in her own story. The plot also moves very quickly to an abrupt and unfulfilling ending.

Beautiful Illustrations, Not Such Good Story
I have to agree with many of the other reviews - illustrations are wonderful - story however is just not good. Is this book worth owning based on the beautiful illustrations alone? - Eh - I'm undecided. If you love fashion illustration maybe.

A treat for fashion lovers
I absolutely adore this little book. It tells the tale of the launch of Dior,s New Look in a very appealing graphic novel format I,ve not looked into that genre before but this proves it can be a very effective way of storytelling. It would make a great stocking filler for a fashionista friend come Xmas

Really Fashionable Art
The art was really nice, and I liked the story. The only problem I have is that it calls itself a biography; yet the main character is completely fictional. You do learn a lot about all the people around her; but her relationships with them is the main driving force of the entire narrative.
