Good so far
I bought this vest about 2 months ago for wild land fire training. By adding 2.5 lbs ankle weights to either shoulder, I ended up with exactly 45lbs. I liked this situation much better than other "half vests" that rest all the weight on the chest. It is much easier to respire with the full vest. This was by far cheaper than other comparable vests and seems to be quality made so far. The weights are bags of lead BB's so if one rips... well hopefully they are replaceable. This is probably the best aerobic work out ever. If you've never walked three miles with a 45 lbs pack in under 45 min., try it and you'll be a believer.

Not well-made poorly fitting
This vest was poorly fitting. The small weights were difficult to put it and ipull out. It did not fit well. I returned it. I would not recommend this vest. It seems to get a high-quality weighted vest. You have to spend a great deal. More money. I did end up buying a vest that was quite a bit more expensive, but worked beautifully, you might consider this before buying this. You get what you pay for.

Precisely what it says.
It actually has a 3M [reflective] strip across the chest about 2" wide. Not a particularly noteworthy feature, but I thought I'd mention it. Otherwise it's fine; just what I expected. It is filled with little pockets in each of which is a tiny bag of [presumably steel] shot. Therefore the user can adjust the overall weight by removing some/several of the little pouches and leaving them on the shelf. The hook & loop is well-positioned, and there are several adjustment parameters using the various straps.I like it - it's a good value and will perform the function for which it was purchased. FWIW, I don't think this particular item needs to be any more expensive than this one was.

Use with caution
I have only been using this for a short time but find that it does have some value. I would have preferred to have a vest that opened in the front, instead of having to pull over my head, but couldn't find one and that's OK, I can live with it. Currently I have about six pounds of weights in my vest and it does make a difference. I have noticed some improvement in my core section. I wear the vest while Nordic-tracking, walking, and doing some chores and yard work. I would warn that adding weight is hard on the knees, I do not have knee problems of any kind but I notice a difference when I am wearing the vest which makes sense because people who have knee problems and are heavy are always encouraged to lose weight because every pound of excess weight adds approx. 12 lbs. (I think) of added pressure on the knees and I can see that it's true. If you have bad knees I think the vest would be a bad idea. 8/2008, now that the weather is nice I wear this outside on walks. I am constantly asked by passersby why I am wearing a bullet-proof vest (even though it says GO FIT on it!), it really does look like one. I still wish it looked more like a piece of clothing and opened in front.

Well balanced to take you to the next level
The GoFit Weight Vest is perfect for those who wish to take their work out to the next level. Remove as much weight as you wish and add as you become more accustomed to it. With equal wight distribution from front to back you equilibrium stays in check while you challenge yourself. Great for running where you feel it in your legs and thighs; great for pull ups to make those arms defined. The GoFit Weighted vest uses two straps to hug the weight around you making it tight to your core. I would suggest this to anyone who is looking to take working out serious.

Perfect Size!
Fits perfect! 20 lbs was the perfect weight for me to use, and i'm only 135 lbs. Seem like it might be made for shorter broader people, and appear lose for some people that aren't as broad. This is probably just because they accounted for a females bust, making the vest more universal. For it's price it's a good product, it may bounce a little when I run, but i feel it adds momentum to a degree, while forcing you to run harder.

okay vest but..
I had bought this vest primarily for pushups but when i tried it on i had noticed that most of the weight was positioned on my mid to lower back area. i was concerned that a.) it may end up causing my form to be compromised and b.) i may also end up ultimately injuring my self or at the very least not reaping the full benefit. otherwise i supposed itd be an okay vest for other exercises that didn't matter if it hung a little low eg pullups, dips.. maybe.. i would NOT recommend this for running or even walking unless you keep your back straight and have perfected your form as you may injure yourself with the lower center of gravity and weight. so at the end of it all i decided to return it and go with the "mir short style vest" that was twice as much but was designed with (virtually) all the weight on the upper back and chest area (which may in fact be superior to most vests out there..) hope this helps!

Just like all the others, GoFit has fallen
My main issue is that the vest shown in the picture is NOT the adjustable weight vest being sold by Amazon. The picture shows the original model weight vest with sand packet weights stitched into the vest. This neoprene, non-adjustable vest is the only one I ever found that fit comfortably for all day wear, and had enough bend to be worn during martial arts practices. Almost every manufacturer today uses the steel shot packets which never conform right, are uncomfortable to wear, and have almost no give when doing simple exercises like sit ups. If you must go with steel in your vest, try another product, because this one is sub par on every level. If I wanted steel in my vest, I would have paid the extra money for an X-Vest (which goes up to 84lbs, is antibacterial, antimicrobial, and made for underwater training as well)! I like it
I like the fact that you can add or remove weight in small increments. It sits comfortably on the shoulders. It appears well made, I have had no issues with it. If you are petite, like me, you will find it a little long and it tends to get in the way when you are bending at the waist - squats, reverse crunches, etc.You will sweat bullets under that thing.
