5+++++ stars for ease of use
It worked perfectly! I did have to read the directions a couple of times to get it, but that's just me.

powerful tool
i had my boat since 1989 new...this is the first time i replaced the gimbal bearing. it was about welded in there, wow...good thing i always keep my 19 foot bayliner Cuddy in the garage..otherwise i doubt that bearing would of been able to come out after all these years. as i tightened the removal tool there was immense pressure building up and then a loud crack and she broke free...after that loud crack the device began turning easily and soon had the bearing pulled out; to my relief. that loud crack was very alarming to say the least. the installation was effortless in comparison. just make sure you align that grease hole on the right side of the bearing, with the inlet grease tube on the right side of the outdrive housing. tap and pound it in slowly and check for alignment as you go is all. strong sturdy excellently built tool..worth every dime.

Worked for my 86 OMC Cobra
Did exactly what was described with one caveat. The alignment bar is about 0.010" too small on the end diameter. It's turned to 0.997"and it should be 1.010". This is a critical dimension to gauge the true alignment of the coupler to the Gimbal bearing. I was still able to confirm the alignment was good enough as it's still fairly close, but bear this in mind.As far as everyone else. This is probably the best designed puller of all the others I have seen and it worked flawlessly. Same goes for reinstalling. I had to return another set from another seller due to the installation tool ID being far too large for the bar and would swivel on the pin. The one from this kit was much better, not perfect but I can attest to it being well within what's needed to get your bearing back in.I have a mill so drilling the hole for the pin was a breeze, I wouldn't want to do it without one, but some people are creative.

You will need it!!
If you have a older boat that been in salt water, don't hesitate just buy this type tool. Spend the money or you will have major frustrations removing the gimbal bearing with a slid-hammer. If your bellows has water, rust or corrosion this will make life a lot easier.

Used part, but does what it has to do
Vevor? Yes, I have had positive opinion about Vevor products I've been using so far. This one is no exception. Perfectly fits my Volvo Penta SX-M without any DIY. Slight signs of previous usage, but it does not affect my objectives.

Don't waste your money
I edited my response after trying to use the tool to reinstall the bearing. First of all, there are ZERO instructions. I had to find instructions on competing tools to figure out how to put this together to remove the bearing. That's where my one star comes from, it removed the bearing nicely. But that's the only thing it did well. When it was time to reinstall, I once again had to search other places for ideas on how to use this. The black ring with a bolt through it seems to be for reinstallation, but there's no hole in the alignment tool for the ring. And the ring will slide all the way up, making it useless, unless you drill a hole through a 2 inch solid rod.....Then I tried using it to align the motor. It won't do that either! The alignment tool is to big to get past the bearing, leaving a 3 inch gap between the tool and the motor.Save your money, rent a slide hammer from your auto parts store for removal. This tool is WAY over priced for the extremely limited applications where it actually worked.

Does not fit OMC
Great set, actually has more tools than needed for an OMC Cobra. I bought it specifically to pull and install the gimbal bearing, which it worked as advertised. But the alignment shaft is too big for the gimbal bearing so it will not work as an alignment tool; just dropped it off at the machine shop with the old bearing. Not sure if it's bad machining or just bad advertising, either way not sure what this actually fits.

Complete kit for Alpha one upper drive rebuild
Every specialty tool you need for a full seal rebuild on a Alpha one. The only additional item that is required to set the bearing preload is aninch lb torque wrench from zero to 20 inlbs. This Alpha one setting is typically 5-8 inlbs. This is also available on Amazon

Garbage product absolutely do not buy.
Do not buy this product, incredibly poorly manufactured, The bearing will not fit over the shaft And will get stuck if you try. It was also not useable as is because it was missing a hole that should be drilled through the shaft to let you use the installation disk for the bearing, which comes with the kit and has a bolt that needs to pass through the shaft.Absolute garbage, I don’t know how this is even being sold

You need to do work on it before you can use it.
This tool cannot be used for its intended purpose without doing work on it. The first thing you have to do is take the bearing Drive plate and sand the paint out of the hole in the centre of it. Then take the main shaft of the tool and sand it or turn it on a lathe so that the bearing drive plate slides onto it easily and that it fits through your gimbal bearing. Remember the whole purpose of the tool is that it has to slide through the Gimbal bearing easily to align the cuppler and engine. Then you can drill the hole through the main shaft to attach the bearing drive plate. allow at least an hour if you have a well-equipped shop to re-engineer the tool so that it will work before starting to use it.The Bellows retainer is too small for the drive bellows and you have to remove your reverse lock to get it into the exhaust Bellows so it’s really not much use. It can be used but you have to do a considerable amount of work. I personally don’t think I should have to work on a tool especially one price in $100 range. The problem is there’s very little choice of alignment tools that do work on Amazon.
