I will start with the pet book because its at the lowest skill level.
I was skeptical that a drawing book could be appropriate for a 4 year old.... however this book does a great job being at the four year old level yet also being appropriate up to probably age 7 or so. In fact, I can see a homeschooling mom with a 4 and 7 year old doing the book at the same time. My only con is that a few of the drawings are a bit too unrefined/simplistic compared to the zoo book. Here is what the book includes:First, each pet animal is introduced by a story in the top left... and the dog from the first page ends up meeting all the other animals. Story-wise the dog gets mistakenly blamed for all the problems that happen, but in the end is the hero. The text/story is not not really all that important. In fact, I most likely will skip the story part unless my son is really interested in it.Second, the animal in a large scale is presented on the left which is the same page as the "story." Its in full color but its position rarely matches the taught drawing on the right side.Third, the drawing of the animal is taught in six steps with the last step always being to color the drawing. Usually only 1-2 lines are drawn per step at the start, but that number varies considerably by the end depending on the detail added. The only issue with the steps is lines disappear without kids being told to erase. Regarding difficulty of the drawings - the fish, parakeet, and hamster can be drawn by probably very young children due to the simplicity of the design and no erasing needed. Next are the ferret, duck, and turtle that have finer details but still no erasing. The rest of the animals (dog, cat, bunny, iguana, and pig) require erasing but the iguana seems the easiest to start with.Fourth, worksheets are provided for each animal that are partially drawn! This is why the book is appropriate for 4 year olds. They finish the drawing instead of having to start with a blank page. With older kids, you can just have them draw on plain paper.Lastly, when a drawing / worksheet page is approved by the teacher/parent. The child gets to place a sticker on each animal page to complete the scene. There are dotted spaces where the stickers go. All 11 reward stickers are provided... plus an entire sheet of additional stickers to place as rewards on their worksheets/drawings.As a child, I loved books like this and I was so happy to find this for my son. He is not yet 4, but I can't wait to use them. I will start with the pet book over the zoo, dinos, or sea animals because it seems to be at the lowest skill level.

Perfect for a 4-5 year old
Some drawing books are too complicated or there are too few pictures inside. I bought this book for my daughter on her 4th birthday. She does a very nice job tracing and copying the pictures- they are not overly complicated and she can even draw some of the images on her own now. There are also plenty of pictures and a nice variety. The designs are easy enough for her to do on her own with little help. My 5 year old son also likes these books.

Waste of money
I got one of these books from costco and it was amazing. My son spent days drawing in that ome. I ordered this one expecting it eid be the same but this was nothing like it and a waste of my money. It's pages were coming off. Not much to draw in. No extra pages at the end of the book for drawing. And very few diagrams.

Age appropriate
Bought for a 6yr old and it is the perfect age for step by step instructions. It comes with a doodle pad in the back as well as half way completed illustrations that child can finish completing.

Great Starter Drawing Book
I bought this for my 4.5 year old son because he loves animals. This is a great starter book to drawing. Him and I sit down often to draw. It's a great step-by-step process that my son can even follow!! Love these books!!

Cute
I personally thought this is a very cute book. Short story, colorful pics, easy drawing instructions, lots of cute stickers to add to the story and practice drawing sheets in the back. Got it for my six year old niece along with some fancy gel pens. I plan to get to do it together on christmas. Something different than the cheap plastic stuff that you never know where to keep all the pieces so they dont get lost. ...

Awesome Series for Young Artists!
My 5 yr old granddaughter loves this book. We also got her the one about rockets when we were on vacation in FL at the Kennedy Space Center. I would definitely recommend this series of books.
