Anne's Kindred Spirits: Inspired by Anne of Green Gables (An Anne Chapter Book)

I love this series of Anne books! They are wonderful read-alouds with my five-year-old, and I am so excited to share the Green Gables stories with her earlier than I could the full-length original book. The illustrations by Abigail Halpin take these to the next level, though--warm and charming. Such a pleasure to read and look at together. I will definitely keep up with the whole series as it's released!

As an Anne Shirley fan from way back, I was nervous and excited for this book. I absolutely adored it and my Kindergartener declared this the best book of Kindergarten. The illustrations are wonderful and this book stays true. I think L.M. Montgomery would approve.

We own both this book and the prior book "Anne Arrives". They are two of my 2.5 year olds favorite books. She loves books and has a good attention span for reading and this series is one of the few I have found to meet the following criteria: 1) lots of beautiful illustrations to keep her interest, 2) a good amount of story so we can read for longer or over several evenings 3) a positive story that isn't too complex but still uses good vocabulary. I grew up loving Anne as well so the nostalgia factor is big. I think as she grows up and is beginning to read on her own these will be perfect for that as well. I strongly recommend you get Anne Arrives in addition to this one as it lays the foundation of the Anne of Green Gables.

I hope there is one of these for each of the big stories in Anne of Green Gables. Beautifully illustrated, and eloquently summed up, this is still proving to be my favorite way to introduce Anne, and now Diana, to young readers.

My daughter loves all things Anne. She enjoyed this book. I love how beautiful the books are.

These books are wonderful! This is the second book from the Anne picture books. I truly hope they continue with more stories. These are a great way to introduce Anne to younger kids.

Love it! Love the art, and that it’s just a bit longer than a typical picture book. I still read it I one sitting to my 4yo (not that I would read the whole thing every time).

This was a beautifully illustrated book to share with a starter level reader, who is not quite ready for the "big book" of Anne of Green Gables.
