Eh, not so great
I was really hoping for a quality mobile stand but instead got a thin plastic stand that barely stays put. While it is adjustable for a multitude of phone and mp3 makes and models, it just isn't what I expected not wanted.

Good but not spectacular
Here are the upsides of this Northward mobile phone holder. First, it's reasonably priced. Second, it mounts to a car dashboard or desk easily and the sticky bottom holds it securely. Finally, the mount comes ready to use and requires absolutely no assembly. (And it has a set of directions on how to mount your phone.) Because of these upsides I'm willing to give it four stars. However, there are some downsides, which keep it from being a five-star product. Most importantly, although the arms are supposed to hold a phone securely, there's still a bit of wiggle. This won't be a problem if you use this as a desk mount. However, I'm not sure that this would be secure enough to hold the phone in the car, particularly if you were to have to brake or turn suddenly. Moreover, if you're planning on using it as a car mount, it isn't as versatile as are some car mounts. It is only a dashboard mount, which limits where you can place it in the car. Finally, each time you return the phone to the mount you're going to have to readjust the arms, since when not in use, the arms tend to revert to the horizontal position. This can be a hassle if you try doing this while driving.

Holds a phone in both landscape and portrait modes just fine...
...but it's not quite a perfect smartphone holding solution.First: the description for this stand says it can be used for "desk & car". I don't permanently mount any mobile device in my car (phone, GPS, dashcam or other), and so my evaluation doesn't address use in a vehicle. Fortunately, the circular disk that accommodates the adhesive for vehicular mounting is easily unscrewed. This review addresses desktop use only. This holder comes in two sizes: small for screens from 3.7" to 4.7" and medium for screens from 4.8" to 6.0". I tested the medium model, using an HTC EVO 4G LTE phone encased in a GreatShield Guardian protective shell.A phone holder is very useful for watching video, video applications, speakerphone use or simply making your phone's screen more readily visible while you do other things.PROS:-Readily held a 4.7" smartphone in both portrait and landscape modes.-Accommodated the phone even while in a protective case.-Storage arms can be retracted into retract into upright positions when no phone is stored.CONS:-Product description says "collapsible". If this refers to being able to stow the support arms: maybe. But the stand itself is a fixed triangular frame that does not collapse; road warriors may not care for its packing characteristics.-Fixed viewing angle.-Some users may not like that the support arms extend beyond the width the of the stand in portrait mode (there are other stands available that do not, such as the Alaska Bear universal stand).-All plastic construction construction results in a very light product that may a little too moveable for some users.Note: this item provided for review purposes.

Love it.
I like that stand. It adjusts itself by putting the cell on it.

Works Well For a Desk - Not Best For a Vehicle
The two main features that this mobile phone holder has going for it is low cost and simplicity of design. It uses an adhesive disk to attach to a vehicle's dashboard or other hard surface, or the disk can be unscrewed (or the plastic disk cover can be left in place) to use it for a desk holder. I received the medium size in exchange for an honest review. The hinged arms will lightly grip my Motorola Droid Razr MAXX HD or my wife's Samsung Galaxy 5S as long as they are not in a protective case, but since the grip of those arms is dependent upon the weight of the phones, the arms will not prevent the phones from being easily dislodged if bumped or subjected to a sharp maneuver by the vehicle especially if the phone is in the portrait (upright) position.Since this phone holder design is mostly a hard plastic triangle, the angle of view is not adjustable. The rotating arms make the placement or removal of a phone a simple one-handed operation but do not secure the phone with a tight grip. Therefore, it would not be my preference to use this holder to hold and protect my phone in a moving vehicle. The holder does, however, work pretty well to hold my phone on a work table or desktop which is where I see its principal application.

Somewhat overpriced and a bit flimsy
Please consider that I'm not using this in a car so any observations I make are based on desktop use. As such I have to say that I can't imagine using this in the car. It's not nearly secure enough; I'd be afraid that a quick stop would send the phone flying. On the desktop it's reasonably good. The design is pretty simple. Open the upper arms, then lower your phone onto the lower ones. This raises the upper arms to grip the sides of your phone. The grip isn't tight or secure and there's no way to lock the phone into the holder. If you have a case on your phone, it won't rest on the shafts of the lower holders which makes the position a bit more insecure. If your phone's charger plugs into the bottom of the phone, you can't charge it in the holder unless you turn it upside down. Upright or sideways and it pops off the holder. To be honest, I think it's kind of flimsy and over-priced. I can see paying about six or seven bucks for this and feeling that I'd gotten a reasonable deal. All that said, I have to say that I do enjoy having it on my desk. It makes me more aware of where my phone is, and that's always a good thing.Disclaimer: I was sent this product in exchange for a review.
