The trick to keep the bag from falling into the can…
I use a piece of 1/4” elastic to keep the bag in place on my simple human trash can. We use the recycling side. I have two elastics. The second is more of an insurance policy. If you don’t have elastic, you could probably cut the elastic from an old pair of women’s underpants and tie it around the can like I did with the flat 1/4” elastic. We’ve only been using these for a few weeks since our compost requirement was put in place by our waste hauler. We empty every 1-3 days and haven’t had any issues with leaks yet. I use this trick on many of my trash cans around the house. Some stores sell bands, but I sew and have elastic on hand that’s far less expensive for me to acquire.

Not the right kind of compostable
I had purchased a bag in the past that was backyard compostable - this isn't it. These are "industrial" which means they aren't compostable in a practical sense. They are pretty sturdy and don't tear easily. And they aren't plastic so I am still happy with the purchase, just dissapointed these are destined for the landfill.

if you have that kind of trash can like we do)
I use these in place of regular kitchen trash bags. They aren't as durable as the super-tough Heftys, etc, but as long as you don't over-stuff the trash can and take a bit of care taking it out (don't drag it across the bag-gathering hole in the can, if you have that kind of trash can like we do), and you have trash bags that won't enclose all of your trash in plastic for eternity in the landfill. I've been using them for a few years now.

Disintegrates
I was really hoping these trash bags would work as I don't like to use plastic. Unfortunately, they disintegrated long before I could fill a trash bag. If there is anything wet in the bag it starts to break down. In the summer the humidity alone was enough to begin to break down the bags.

Good but not big enough
I am still in the process of trying different brands of biodegradable trash bags. This is probably my favorite as far as material and stretchiness go. However, the bags aren't big enough. at roughly 22"x29" they are just slightly too small for a normal 13 Gallon trash can and the bag is always falling in which makes it hard to get the bag full. Most other bags are 24"x32" which fits a can nicely. What is particularly strange is that Biobag's 13 Gallon commercial liner is 24"x32" but their "retail" model is smaller. If they would change the size on the retail model, my search would be over. However, until then....

New batch with poor quality
I would have given 0 stars if possible. The new batch of bags is very poor quality. The bags rip easily even from just opening the bags, let alone when you try to fill them. I used these bags before and they were elastic and good quality. Now they are stiff, get damaged easily and are unusable! Would love to try another batch to see if mine was just a fluke, but don't want to waste the money on another pack of faulty bags.

Good bags with learning curve.
These bags appear to be the most eco-friendly of the compostable bags. However, as many have noticed, there is a learning curve.Compostable bags do not behave like plastic and require a change in strategy. Thus, we had to learn to use them differently. Two changes helped a lot.1. Do not put anything moist in the bag. If moist items enter the bag, try to keep them from touching the bag material. This is not as bad as it sounds as most of the moist items were compostable items that should have been put in our compost bin.2. Don't stretch them. These bags are stretchy, but they tend to develop holes when stretched. Cramming things into these bags like a plastic sack isn't a good idea.

Biobags 13-gal garbage bags are a great alternative to plastic garbage bags
I've been using biobags for several years - I wanted a bag that would compost with the garbage instead of regular plastic that stays around forever and is manufactured with petroleum products. These biobags fit my 13-gallon trash can perfectly and are strong enough to hold up to some compacting of the garbage. They are made in the USA by a small company that is focused purely on biodegradable bags for consumers - I love supporting companies like this.
