Works on shower supply shower lines that are flush with finished wall
This product and Amazon gets 5 stars because it allowed me to be able to install the shower system that I wanted in my refinished bathroom. That being said I would give Kohler -0- stars. I spent over $1000 between the hydrorail, rain shower head, hand shower and hose (all sold separately by Kohler) and when it came time to install the hydrorail I had to find this part in order to make everything work (got it in less than 24hrs thanks to Amazon). The hydrorail alone cost $450+ so I would expect this part to be included. That being said the system looks terrific but I would have had to return everything it wasn’t for this part.

Most important piece
This piece was essential to installing Kohler rain shower head. It's a shame that the one thing you need most of all is not included with fixture.

Glad i had it at install day
Ordered this length as it was specified by the dimensions in the install guide, inculded was a mini extension! Just incase you were a bit short, what a well thought out kit, what a lucky day, cleaned the female threads with a cutoff fittings brush for copper fittings ,and a cordless drill. Installed without a fight.

Get a plumber who can read and you won’t need this!!! Lol
Worked for my application. My plumber would not read instructions for shower head. Roughed in plumbing to wrong depth, I had to get this to correct problem.

Very good product and reasonably priced
Updated our 18-year old master bath with Kohler products. Need this adapter for the newly tiled shower. It fit perfectly and was received in a very timely manner. Very good product and reasonably priced.

Expensive and you only need the lower extension piece
So I feel that the only valuable piece in the kit is the transfer valve extension (the chrome part). It's a $5 part at best and should be included standard for $300 plus cost of the rail. It evens out the bar assembly due to the shallow elbow up top. I ended up using the original supply adapter, since it's longer and fits deeper into the fixture (more secure, less chance of a leak).
