There are so many reasons to love these battis! First, they have a soft, lovely fragrance which is more gentle in the home than homemade cotton wicks dipped in ghee, while managing to remain undistracting and inconspicuous. They fit perfectly into a diya for puja, and are almost perfectly uniform. Also, I find that these burn much longer and more consistently than the wicks I make at home, about 35 minutes from these compared to about 25 minutes from mine. This leads me to suspect that they may involve a small amount of wax instead of pure ghee, and I see a few other reviewers here interpret things similarly. I respect whichever viewpoint. My sense is that these are not pure ghee, but they allow me to practice puja in environments where using homemade wicks may create an unwanted odor, and I consider it an acceptable trade. One last point, though these are a more expensive than a $2 box of cotton wicks and ghee to be sure, the cost is not radically higher, and it’s really a good price compared to the other boxes of prepared batti available at my local Indian markets. If you use good ghee like Amul or Laxmi brand to make your wicks, the cost of convenience here is only a few dollars. I am grateful to have found these. Blessings to all. Jai Ma!

Nice smell. 15 minute burn time.

Nice wick, when you open box it smells good but not while burning, last atleast 30min. Not sure if it is really made of cow ghee but definitely contains wax to stay firm.

* These wicks burn with a nice strong flame. I timed one, and it burned for about 25 minutes.* The candles are mostly white, while pure ghee is golden yellow. So it appears that these candles have more wax in them than ghee. They also feel harder than pure ghee.* There is a very strong perfume in the candles.

The candles arrived quicker than I expected. They do have a kind of strong perfumy rose smell (I am sensitive to strong smells) but as long as I light it and remove it when finished using it hopefully it doesn't bother me too much.

These are very user friendly wicks. The only problem was they last for only 1-2 hours. We have to keep adding additional ghee for it to last longer.

I use these daily on my altar. Last just long enough that it is done by the time I leave for work. No strong smell, lights easy. Wonderful! Exactly what I was looking for. Will buy more once I run out.

The wicks burn quick, the smell is absolutely amazing, I don’t have to worry about the dangers of leaving the house with lit candles anymore. A very clean burn too, so so so pleased. Never stop making these.
