Now I really know what's happening under the hood
This was a really important book for my understanding of Dax formulas. I watched a lot of videos online, and forums can often give you formulas that will solve your problem but I never fully understood what was happening.I feel very confident now after reading this book. I can visualize what is happening with my model and it has made writing Dax much easier. I'm not saying that I'm an expert or that it's easy now, but I know how it works and the functions that are available to me. If you really want to know what's happening, this is the book for you.

Missing Pages 7-38
It was good, but then got really confusing until I realized it jumps from page 7 to page 38. Hopefully the rest of the book is actually in the book.

Amazing Book
I have been reading this book for 5 months. I am not finished. I spend a half hour every day. Marco Russo and Alberto Ferrari are teachers and very good ones. There is so much effort put into this book it feels like they actually care about you and your DAX journey. I have gotten so much out of this book. Though I can't say that I truly understand it. Yet I see that my DAX has improved quite a bit. With many mysteries still remaining. I am just an average person trying to be a bit above average and I thank the authors for helping me in my quest. I highly recommend this book. Though if I were starting off from scratch I would read Matt Allington's book Supercharge Power BI and possibly Power Pivot and Power BI by Rob Collie and Avichal Singh though that book is a bit older. In summation: my lack of understanding is my issue, the book itself is extremely comprehensive and well written. So I will continue on my DAX journey and hopefully will continue to improve as I make my way through the final 3rd of the book.

The most comprehensive book on DAX, period
Reread the chapters several times if you want to know DAX intricately because the topics sometimes are very difficult but powerful albeit manageable. Do not give up and you can be a DAX Jedi soon.

DAX Champions Book
This is an amazing book not just to know DAX functions but to understand the fundamental importace of row and filter context. Once you understand the difference is pretty fun to write and combine DAX on your own

The most holy text of the DAX religion...
Reading this book makes me realize how little I know about the things I thought I knew. I've been writing DAX for years, having started with PowerPivot (no spaces in the name, that's how old) for Excel 2010, and in my job I still find new, interesting problems to solve. This book is an amazing reference for anyone interested in pushing the calculation envelope in DAX and their models. I've built models spanning billions of records with the expert guidance this book provides.I would almost consider this a holy book of the DAX religion. If you ever wanted someone to explain why god created CALCULATE() and how we should observe it daily in our lives, this is the book, and the Italians preach adeptly. I'm a big believer, and you will be too.

Must read
This book is fantastic. Explainations are thorough and clear. Lots of examples to demonstrate both what to do and what happens with incorrect variations of code. Anyone who wants to master Power Bi visuals needs to read this.

Technical knowledge and expert level explanation
Easy to read, explanation is clear and examples are simple and well laid out to help expound on technical concepts.

Advanced
This is a clear, well-written book but the title/blurb is somewhat misleading, as I would consider it to be aimed specifically at advanced/heavy users - or people intending to be advanced users - and it spends all its time on DAX and mostly ignores PowerBI itself. There is a fair amount of material on writing code for which a simple PowerBI off-the-shelf measure or trick already exists, for example. A large part of the book is devoted to optimising queries, which assumes your dataset is 5m+ rows. There is a lot of material related to workarounds for some pretty obscure needs. For some reason the authors are obsessed with correctly calculating percentages of subgroups in tables and there are pages and pages on that throughout the book.Perhaps the most frustrating part is that there is one chapter on basically "how to solve real-world problems with DAX" - for example, making sure your year-on-year comparisons are accurate, or honing your year-to-date analysis - but this is very short; I wish it had been the whole book.

The DAX Bible
This books doesn't require a lot of comments. It's the DAX Bible. The Definitive Guide to DAX means what it says - it's The Definitive Guide to DAX. You'll find (almost) everything about DAX in this book. It's not a book for fast reading. This book will stay with you for a while. Use this book to read about DAX, to understand DAX, to practice your DAX (using companion content, which includes a demo database), to optimize your data models and DAX. The book is not easy reading, because DAX is not just a list of functions, DAX is based on the fundamental concepts we need to understand. To understand the concepts of DAX you'll need help of an expert. Marco Russo and Alberto Ferrari are the best DAX experts and their consulting time is really expensive. But they put all their knowledge into this book which will cost you less than $40-50. If you're going to work with DAX you must have this book.
