Bluetooth EleUke Peanut CPE-MH Concert solidbody silent Electric Ukulele (Concert)

I was looking for a travel ukulele that would have a built in amp so I could play it quietly anytime. This uke is perfect for that. Wood workmanship and finish is good enough but not like a fine instrument. It sounds reasonable too, smooth and not distorted. It does disappoint in two areas however: The built in amp isn’t quite powerful enough to drive typical light ear buds to a moderate volume. I only got a low volume out of the many different headphones I tried. Ideally you would use an external headphone amplifier which of course means a connector cables to yet another device which would not make for the easiest travel. You could also use an external guitar amplifier, either full size or mini if you want to play for another person or a group. There is lots of fun to be had with that, adding effects pedals etc. The other disappointment is that although it is Bluetooth capable, it is important to know that it is a Bluetooth receiver only, it does not transmit. So you can’t connect to any type of external Bluetooth speaker for playback or playback through your phone. As a receiver, you can play music on your phone and play the uke along with the music that is being received from your phone. (You hear this through the uke’s headphone jack.) It would work well will a metronome app too. This uke is a great idea and I really like it and I’m keeping it. Improving those two weaknesses would make this a 5 star uke.
