Poor design, avoid if you have a Cooper S convertible
The license plate light lens on my 2007 Mini Cooper S convertible broke. I was going to simply replace it, but this LED light popped up on my product search. I figured it wasn’t much more than the cost of the lens and would provide a longer lasting and brighter light, so why not. Unfortunately, this is a crappy design that doesn’t really work well with my Mini. For one thing, it only has two 2 connector tabs. The lights on my car require 4 tabs because they are wired in a series, and the hatchback latch release is even in the circuit. I had to splice wires for both lights, which is not easy given the short wires and tight space. The tabs are not even the right size, so I had to spread the connector to make it fit, and they stick out at 90 degrees rather than lying flat like the original lights. That made it incredibly difficult to attach the connectors within the tight space. In the process, one of the tabs broke off. I had to disassemble the light to resolder the tab. What a freakin’ ordeal for a license plate light. I gave it 2 stars rather than 1 only because the light itself is fairly bright, but I really regret going down this path. There must be better options than this.

Way too bright.
I wanted to change the stock license plate lights to LED, so that the light was more white and less yellow. These ones fit well and they're certainly white.... but they're way too bright. It looks like you're driving around in reverse, and they're fairly blinding/annoying to drivers behind. I cut and stuck some vinyl lens tint over the top, and it reduced the light a bit. I just don't know why they put so many LED in... it's not a headlight.

Connection problem
These lights look great when they are on but, I had trouble getting them to make a connection and when you close the trunk they would lose connection and go out. Little frustrating to get them to work but after you get them to stay on they look awesome.

Contact spacing
Super tight fit between the contacts in the holder.. had to push the contacts back out of the way a pinch to get the lights to mount and lock in place. After that ( took roughly 15 mins) they were in and working perfectly

Bright enough, better than OEM lights - 2005 Cooper S R53
The previous bulbs had become corroded and green from moisture entering the license plate housing, the housing contacts themselves are also worn out and slowly disintegrating. I installed these and after a bit of wiggling around they popped in nice and tight, they work perfectly fine even with the corroded contacts in the Mini.Notes:- Bit of flicker when turning car on, goes away though- Flickered when initially putting them on - nice indicator to tell me my contacts were actually working

Easier on bench or table.
Fit well, had to bend metal clips slightly. Very bright, lights up tag, bumper, street, entire block. I recommend removing small visor/hood/light holder from tailgate. Only four screws. Use a 9v battery to ensure connection.

Easy install
Remember to flip it when you install the second one. Install was very easy, just pushed it in after removing the old bulb. Very happy.

Good for 5 to 6 months
They were awesome until they failed. One is completely dead now and the other is lit halfway. If you do get these, use dielectric grease all up inside bc it will fill with water and road grime and corrode everything.
