What a great read
Excellent insight on the racing life of Paul Neuman. It is truly an inspiring look at how he loved racing and his commitment to the sport. This is a book I initially purchased for my kindle, but had so many people want to read it - I got the printed version. It is a keeper!

Great for race fans, especially those who knew him
An interesting retrospective of a great racing driver, who just happened to make movies too. Although I knew PLN from 1972 and appreciated the additional pressure he faced from the Hollywood-fan crowd at the various tracks, while trying to just drive to the best of his amazing ability, there were some interesting details about him in the book that I didn't know before. The book is very enjoyable, and will be loved by many of the people, especially race workers at the circuits he drove, whose lives he touched. I found the writing an easy read and the photos from a nice variety of sources, including me (although my credit is missing). I'd recommend the book, and the 2015 movie of the same name based on it.

I liked the many personal stories people in the racing community have to tell about PLN. Wonderful book

but never new how good and dedicated he was
Paul Newman. the "Real Deal." Automobile racing is one of the last "Blood Sports." (Everything on the Line...Senna, one of riches Racers, dead on the track.) I knew Paul Newman was a RACER, but never new how good and dedicated he was. Second Place in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (not a movie with Steve McQueen) the real race with a 635 Turbo Porsche, winning four (4) SCAA National Championships and winning his last race at age 82 in a tube framed "Vette." Can't wait to see the doc with the same name "Winning." - TK

Fitting Tribute To A Great Sportsman.
This very accurate biography of the one aspect of Paul Newman's life that many of his fans were not familiar with was to me a very well done piece. I met PLN when he was co-owner of Newman Haas Racing and was greatly impressed with what a genuine, down-to-earth person he was. His love of this sport that I and most of my friends have such an attachment to made him a sportsman in the truest sense. This book will visually keep his memory vividly fresh in my mind and in the minds of all those sports car lovers who read it.

Winning: The Racing Life of Baul Newman
For racers like myself, this was a fun, though at time repetitive, read. A quilt work of wonderful recollections of life on the track with Paul, along with some insight into this remarkable man. However, because this guy was such a remarkable person, and the story is potentially so full and strong, I found myself wanting more than a collection of glimpses. Hopefully someone will pen a true racing autobiography, with more depth. Maybe a follow-up?

Paul Newman - more than just an actor
For all his fame as one of Hollywood's great actors, a world-class humanitarian, and the proprietor of a natural food empire, the late Paul Newman had another intriguing facet that was less known and perhaps closer to his heart than all the rest of his well-chronicled life. He was an avid, successful and well respected car racer and team owner. This book tells that story--from Newman's racing career, begun in earnest at an age when many race car drivers contemplate retirement; to the partnership he formed in 1983 with Chicago racing entrepreneur and team owner Carl Haas; to the impressive stable of cars he owned, from the Porsches and Ferraris to quirkier modified VWs and Volvos. This is the tale of a life full of passion and skill, of someone who entered the 24 Hours of Daytona at the age of 70 and made his last professional race outing at 82; whose roster of drivers for Newman/Hass reads as a who's who of open wheel racing; and whose interest in cars extended from the likely suspects to old trucks and new hybrids. And then there's the charming pal who, when the incorrigible prankster Robert Redford had a miserably wrecked Ferrari dropped at his front door, returned the favour by having the car, crushed into a cube, delivered to Redford's living room. The anecdotes, the races, the cars--all are here, adding up to what for many would be a full life, but for Paul Newman was simply another side of a man of talent, conviction, and enduring spirit.
