October Mountain ProductsXB Impact Discharge Head

If you hate your yard then this is for you, puts nice 6 inch deep holes in the yard with turfsplosions, not a word, but it should be. My problem with it is the rubber coating is getting gnarled up after 2 uses, mind you I’m shooting a 430fps rated crossbow with heavy bolts so there is that, plus rocks and stuff in the dirt. Also, the threading seems off, so it doesn’t set well on the bolt, feels pretty loose. It was that way before getting shot, it’s gotten looser after the 2 uses. Still beats lugging a 40 lb target around in my car.

This is by FAR the best de-cocking device I have found!!! After breaking several different discharge arrows the October Mountain is the best yet! I have a 425 FPS crossbow (that uses a proprietary bolt) and I was very afraid to break one of my 3 bolts that came with it, since there were no spare bolts available for it until March of this year!!! This can be fired into soft ground at a 25 degree angle, and I did a few times, but beware the bolt will bounce and go quite a distance so DON’T do it in the dark or you may have trouble finding your bolt!!! I like to shoot it at a discharge bag just for that extra bit of give so I didn’t break my bolt... I only had 3 to practice and hunt with!!! It worked very well and is quite heavy, stopped bolts fired at 425 FPS!!! Without breaking!!! GET IT!!! GET 2!!!

This worked once , and on the second time using it it broke and the front rubber popped off . It still works i guess but would have been nice if it stayed together.

I liked this crossbow discharge head when I received it. I wanted to give it 5 stars because I could attach it to an old bolt with set screws and not worry about the bolt. Should it break that old bolt, I have plenty of junk bolts to reuse with the head. The last discharge bolt I had was made as one piece so when the head broke off, it was useless. After about 5 uses, the rubber end came off of this device. I have no idea where it wound up as I shot it into the ground, and it was not with the arrow anymore. It really doesn't matter as I see no way to reattache it anyway. I still have the metal portion of the discharge head, and I'll keep using it, but it was disappointing that the cushioning element of the head is now no longer attached. I guess that will mean a broken bolt someday, but if the set screws aren't damaged, I'll dig out an old bolt and keep using it. I can't recommend this item because of the damage incurred with regular use, but the concept is still good (hence 2 stars instead of 1).

I have a TenPoint Stealth XLT with 20" carbon and aluminum omni bolts. I have used this so far a total of 5 times. Each time the bolt discharges as it should, with no damage to the bolt. You need to follow instructions and maintain the angle of attack sharp, otherwise the bolt will skip across the ground like a flat rock across a pond. Regardless of angle, make sure no one is standing or anything that may not like an impact from the bolt is in the direction of release. This will release with a lot of energy and it will bounce at least one, striking what's behind it. I have to adjust the the blunt head on my bolt since its shape is rectangular, because the long ways side of the tip comes precariously close to the cocking stirrup. I have rotated it on the bolt for safe ejection, even with it not tightly wound, all without incident.

It does the job. It’s always disappointing when you don’t get the job done and get a shot at a deer. But this gets the job done when you give up and call it a day

You can't go wrong buying this bolt head if you own a crossbow.It screws onto standard crossbow bolt shafts.Material quality is very good.Would recommend to friends and family.
